Considering you can actually get to England from Queen St (especially ECML) with a change at Edinburgh, and it shouldn't actually matter what ticket office you buy from, I can't understand why they didn't sell you it.

The northbound is a bit longer tho. The missing via W Mids services are best coming back I think at some point. Though there are more northbound via W Mids services serving Glasgow than southbound.
I am Glasgow based, so preferably anywhere less than 3 hours train journey each way of Central or Queen St. Though I still welcome any other suggestions!
