I am currently working on a personal project in train simulator - backdating the cross city route to 1995. The video 125 cab ride has been quite useful, although it only shows the route from one direction and there is limited information about speed limits etc. Therefore, I would be interested...
I was watching a dvd of cross city trains back in the 1990s and noticed that on the earliest clips, when braking the 323s sound was slightly different. The difference compared to today was that when coming to a stand the initial pulsing which is always heard when accelerating can be herd again...
Over the years I've come across a few different branded ticket wallets - the blue National Rail one being the most common.
However, I do have some older wallets - a Centro branded one and another with the markings 'RAILCARD' and the BR logo. I also had a WAGN branded wallet, but it...
I noticed that on the Intellectual Property Office site, the Network SouthEast branding has been licensed by SE Trains Limited.

This September, it will be around 15 years since the initial release of RailSimulator. This got me thinking - will there be some type of celebration? An upgrade of one of the early routes? An upgrade to the game's engine? A new interface?
I would be very interested to see what peoples...
A new route has been announced - London Victoria & Blackfriars - Dover & Ramsgate.

The 465 looks very nice - much better than the one released a few years ago. I assume it must have been imported...
Recently some more training videos have been uploaded to YouTube:-
Midland Mainline - Class 222 Meridian - Staff Training Programme (2004)
DTLR - Railway Staff Safety Training - The Right Choice (1996)
DTLR - Railway Staff Safety Training -Railway Security (2001)
British Rail - Three Step...
I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, but I thought I this would be interesting for some members.
For at least the last four years I have been trying to find the themes from the BR training videos - without much success. However, about two years ago I found a few and last year I...
Would someone be able to say which services will be operated by 365s? I know some are operated by 387s, but this is not shown on Real Time Trains.
Many Thanks.
It appears that the Cross City line is being developed for Train Simulator - the achievements were uploaded onto steam. They do not mention any trains, but I would assume a 323 would be included. It's possible they could also include the 220, 170 and HST as I believe they all run on the route...
As the 365s are being withdrawn, I would like to go on them at least one more time. So it would be helpful if someone could post the diagrams until May.
Many Thanks.
I am looking for a new pc as my current one is getting quite old and came across this - the ASUS ROG Strix G15DH.

Would this be any good for running train simulator?
Many thanks.
They where developing quite a few add-ons, although the 185 was transferred to someone else. Unfortunately their Facebook page disappeared or was removed, so have they ceased trading or do they go under a new name? I hope they’re still going as I was quite looking forward to the new 47...

The article states that they could use 365s or other emus to 'offer an express parcels/consumer goods rail delivery service' on the ECML.
If not the 365s then perhaps the off-lease 317s or 319s could...
Realtime trains shows that there are no through services, all terminate at Kings Cross, however all are still 700 operated. Is this to do with the East Coast upgrade or is there another reason?

As the 365s are being withdrawn from most services on Saturdays from next weekend, how many services do the 365s operate on Sundays? Do they operate any stoppers or just the fast services?
Many Thanks.
How accurate are drivers expected to be when stopping at platforms? I've seen some drivers stop perfectly and others who either stop slightly too short or over-run slightly.
I've found a video which appears to show an over-run of a stopping point marker - the train is 8 cars long:-
How...
Is there a noticeable difference in braking performance between dynamic braking and air braking? If so why do some drivers on Great Northern 365s chose to Isolate the dynamic brake? Is it easier to drive with just air brakes or are their faults with the system - as with the Alsthom dmu units?
RailUK was launched on 6th June 2005 - so we've hit 20 years being the UK's most popular railway community! Read more and celebrate this milestone with us in this thread!
