    Notice of Intention to Prosecute

I think you need to be clearer about the offence. I would say I was travelling from Hitchen to Welwyn Garden City. However I had only bought a ticket from Hitchen to Stevenage and another from Welwyn North to Welwyn Garden City where I was stopped. Whilst the rest of the letter is a little...

    Notice of Intention to Prosecute

You clearly need to be completely up front about what you did. Just explain that on simple terms. Just say that you were travelling from Hitchen to Welwyn Garden City but you short fared and only bought a ticket from Welwyn North. Then you apologise, express regret and ask for the settlement...

Dispute at Gate line, what could happen?

1 May very well be valid, but without any paperwork to prove it, you will be stuck when you meet the next inspector. 2 is clearly an offence.

Penalty fare notice - expired railcard

On what grounds did you think you can appeal? An appeal can only usually be made if there was a failure of process or you have new information. You can't appeal just because you think it's unfair. You travelled with an expired Railcard, it's an open and shut case. Best just to pay up and, more...

GTN - NIP Letter response advice

Yes your second draft is much better. Your first draft doesn't make any sense at all. Id go with the second draft.

Train companies don’t always make reasonable adjustments for disabled passengers (imo)

Why don't you just get a friend or family member to help you buy the tickets?

Fraud investigation emails from Greater Anglia ("fishing" emails) -

Slight typo there at the end. Don't use Trainline and always buy valid tickets in future.

    Confusion over railcard

One of the pieces of legislation, I can't remember which and I am out but will check when I'm back, lays down exactly what the wording of the warning signs should be. Many signs so not conform with that legislation. 1748454501 It's this https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/366/schedule/1

Hello all - my partner was caught short fairing on the snow hill line in April - any help would be appreciated!

your reply is brief and to the point and covers the basics. You can expect a settlement figure to be the anytime single rate for each fare evaded plus around £150 admin costs. If the ticket was bought online then they will investgate your ticket purchasing history and may coime back for more.

    Confusion over railcard

The fact that she didn't say anything won't wash. The paper she gave you and which you posted above does explain exactly, so you were told. You are expected to read it.

    Confusion over railcard

They say that to calm the situation. "I am going to issue a penalty but you can appeal". But all appeals will fail unless there is a compelling reason. And being "just £2" is not a compelling reason, otherwise everyone would do that.

    Confusion over railcard

You have no grounds for appeal. This is a very common form of fare evasion and the railway company have no way of knowing whether this was a mistake or deliberate. But, as the letter says, the penalty is to encourage you to check more carefully in future. The staff who catch you often say things...

    Misuse of free pass!! Help!!

There isn't much you can do now. If you accept the charges, then it's best to plead guilty and take it from there. It looks as if you will have to pay something more than £1500, perhaps nearer £2000. At least with a court you can get a payment plan. You have learned an expensive lesson.

    Invalid ticket (Railcard fraud)

It wasn't a mistake. Your Railcard expired 2 and half years ago. Forgetting about it for that long is negligence, not a mistake. If you are open and honest about this, then the chances are you will get a settlement.

UPDATED: Possible Meeting With GWR to Discuss Concerns/Questions

Well Yeovil Pen Mill is a branch line station whereas Chippenham is on the mainline and a completely different affair. At the corner shop and swimming pool every customer needs attention whereas with the ability to buy tickets online, most passengers can pass through YPM with no need to bother...

I received a travel irregularity email from Ga and responded

The general advice is to ignore these types of fishing emails. Unless you are actually caught red-handed, they would find it very difficult to prove anything against you. What did you say in your first response?

Travelled without a valid railcard and gave inaccurate details

You are correct that you have committed two offences. Not having a valid ticket and not giving your correct details. If you do nothing, then the chances are that you won't get the correspondence and that the train company will eventually track you down and you will get a criminal conviction. The...

I recieved a Single Justice Notice

As above, we need to see the documentation with identifying names etc obscured. It looks as if they have decided to prosecute you. We have seen that engaging a solicitor can change the outcome and a reversion to a settlement but this is not guaranteed and comes at a price of between £500 and...
