    Stagecoach East Midlands

Erm, it does! It’s in the first sentence and is the main purpose of the bill. However, as a private member bill, it’s highly unlikely to become law. Even if it did, where would the money to pay for it come from?

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

That means the Hull Card weekly ticket valid on both EY and Stagecoach is now 20p than the EY only weekly, with the same validity area. Bonkers.

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

I wonder how much EY’s standard of routine maintenance is a factor….the E400 MMC’s on the X46/47 are only a few years old and it’s not uncommon to see one broken down.

[TRIVIA] Land Trains of the UK

You’re referring to the Bridlington service that runs between the Leisure Centre and Sewerby Park which is next to Sewerby Cricket Ground. Incidentally, the South Beach service in Bridlington only runs as far as the Spa, not the Leisure Centre.

Only runs Sunday and Bank Holidays. Timetable is here https://www.moorsbus.org/timetables

Off-board fare purchase on bus systems

You can buy some tickets (eg the multi-operator ‘Hull Card’ which ironically is issued on a Stagecoach smart card if you want it that way) at the East Yorkshire travel centre in Hull Paragon Interchange.

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

The map on the Moorsbus website says the M1 goes via Driffield, which the ME1 didn’t. Looks like the M1 is a full Moorsbus route too unlike the ME1 so Moorsbus day tickets will presumably now be valid from end to end.

Government invests nearly £38 million to bring 319 new green buses to communities across England

The air quality argument is marginal at best given the relatively small number of vehicles in question when compared to overall road vehicles in an urban area. Perhaps enhancing the bus network or reducing fares to make the bus more attractive would have a greater impact by encouraging modal switch.

Government invests nearly £38 million to bring 319 new green buses to communities across England

So that’s still a direct benefit for a private company to replace an asset they’d have to replace themselves anyway.

Government invests nearly £38 million to bring 319 new green buses to communities across England

Why is the taxpayer buying new vehicles for private companies? I’d rather the money was spent on route or fare subsidy.

    Stagecoach East Midlands

Significant fare rises in Hull today despite not a single mention of it on the Stagecoach website - what a shock! My return fare to Beverley for work has gone up a whopping 35% from £4 to £5.40, so I’ll be back in the car again from Monday.

    Stagecoach Cashless Trial - Illegal?

Surely if your disability was so severe that you were unable to manage a bank account or contactless card, you’d have a free disabled bus pass which would make your whole argument void. Plenty of business are now cash only as it reduces overheads and is safer by reducing the risk of theft.

    Stagecoach East Midlands

They really aren’t bad value, especially if you buy the flexi-5 bundle and save 20%. Travel right across the East Mids area from Hull to the bottom of Lincolnshire for the price really isn’t bad. By comparison, a network wide day ticket with East Yorkshire will set you back £17.20

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

So East Yorkshire are rewarded with another contract from Hull City Council despite failing to deliver on several others recently. The gravy train continues. Hull council really need to give up on the park and ride. They keep throwing money at it but the demand is clearly not there. I’d rather...

    Bad publicity for "the railway"...

Well, she presumably failed to read and understand the booking T&C’s and confirmation email before travelling (and likely paid unnecessary booking fees too). She then presumably failed to read and deal with correspondence before it went to court. Then, after all this, trotted off to The Guardian...

Hull trains becoming more like Lumo?

This is nothing new. HT have charged for excess baggage for a long time. Some people really do take the proverbial and think a train tickets comes with a free house moving service.

    Passenger Assist Issue

Don’t travel with a pram and luggage if you can’t cope with it. The level of entitlement demonstrated by some people with children is off the scale. Having a child isn’t a novelty and it certainly isn’t a disability. Don’t have them if you can’t manage dealing with them.

    GBR and Staff Travel

Zero logic to this. Should supermarket cleaners get their weekly shop for free? Should gas network engineers get their energy bills paid for? Should road maintenance workers get free cars and petrol? The level of entitlement from staff in the rail industry is off the scale.

    Far-right protests

Ah, I didn’t see a thread about the Leeds riots but am happy to read it if you point it out. I’m also not making excuses, but seeking to understand why this is happening. You can’t solve a problem without knowing what is causing it. Is there only one side causing trouble? I see the Muslim...

    Far-right protests

Ah, I see the usual impartial talking heads are out in force on the forum today. Did you condemn the violence in Leeds a couple of weeks ago, when the police simply ran away? Meanwhile, clearly this violence is being stoked by people looking for a fight and that won’t achieve anything. But, the...
