I think that sequence was shot on the North Yorkshire Moors railway. Did the train ram a stolen car stalled on the level crossing, run into a tunnel and then derail. If so, NYMR, who also shot another train crash at the same location for Heartbeat

Incidently, watching repeats of heartbeat episodes, the train in the opening sequence apears to be headed by an ex SR loco, at least on the closing sequence, the loco appears to be a Stanier
If you went to specsavers, you would have seen all four sacks!

I was watching Force 10 From Navarone, and the main characters steal explosives from a German ammo dump, and have to board a moving freight train. The film is set in Yugoslavia (I think) and the wagon has VGA and a TOPS number on the data panel.

In one of the Gavin & Stacey episodes, when Smithey and his friends get off the Pacer at Barry Island, there is a stupid american horn and bell clip played over the top :roll:
No - it is set in Milford, a fictional town in West Yorkshire.

An episode of Casualty featured a young boy getting his arm stuck between the ballast and the rail.
Out of no where comes an 08 approaching at what looks like quite a pace. The boy manages to get out of the way, cue camera cutting round to a 47 + MK2 coaches

I love it when they speed up footage of shunter trains. It makes them look like the old hornby 08s which could zoom along!

In "My House is Falling Down" on ITV last night, Sarah Beeny is seen arriving by train. A 170 halts at the station with a screech of brakes.
170's are disc braked. I've never heard their brakes screech. Did they overdub the scene with the sound of a 156 stopping for dramatic effect?

I really like the second version of The 39 Steps as the railway sequences are generally very good, however there is one glaring error, when Kenneth More is on the platform in Edinburgh he is at the east end of Waverley, and the train is leaving for Aberdeen, I suppose it could go via the sub but it is highly unlikely.
Re the class 20 in the bond film, the nose section and the command coach languished at the Railway Museum at Crewe for a number of years, don't know if they are still there.

If you mean the South Suburban, that rejoins at Slateford, west of Haymarket and the junction for Aberdeen, it would only be used if going to Carstairs/Glasgow or the WCML.

Sorry but you are wrong there, the South Suburban line was and still is accessable from the West via Haymarket West Junction, indeed at the time the film was made the sub was not accessable from Carstairs, the spur to the Caledonian line (from Craiglockhart Junction) was only put in around 1960.

20188 (the class 20 used in 'Goldeneye') has worked at several preserved lines since then - without the added embellishments, although it still has the unauthentic 'Waterman' livery.

Also, this film is set in 1963, yet it's a 50 in rail blue with TOPS number at the bufferstops at Paddington (50 007?), the coaches are early mark 2s in blue & grey... I also find the songs annoying as they put on the record players Who tracks that had not been released at that time. Finally most of the cars in riding scenes are 70s models.

Wasn't there an outtake in Ben Hur where the director's Ferrari appeared in the background during the chariot race?

Don't know, but I think that's the same film where one of the cast is clearly seen to be wearing a wrist watch during the chariot race isn't it?

Also, if you look closely at the motorway scene, you see a sign showing M25 & miles to Heathrow on it!

There's an episode of Ashes to Ashes where you see a Rover 600 at the side of the road.
I think it's set in 82, but the 600 was first built in 93.

Hi all
The BBC Drama series episode on Monday night had a story line based on a man going missing from a London to Dover Train, the episode featured CCTV footage of the man at his seat and the Buffet Car. I am pretty sure that the footage was not taken on any Dover train, looked more like the interior of a Bournmouth set, any locals confirm?

The latest Southern TV ad has their green caped superhero character going on a day trip to Brighton.
Unfortunately they have the train heading north out of Clayton Tunnel at the start of the advert and south into it at the end.
Not that anyone other than one of us would notice, of course!

In relation to the Southern one.
Match.com 's new advert for MatchAffinity has a guy sat on one platform playing a guitar and singing, and a girl on the opposite platform, over the tracks, a 377 rolls in, she disappears, a 455/313* rolls out, he see's shes gone, then she appears next to him.
*Only see a bit of the train and they both look the same to me. (Defiantly not a 377) Although thinking about, I don't think the corridor connection was blocked out, so would have been a 313.

The Micahel Portillo series has a number of continuity errors as the trains change when he's talking about where he's next heading and showing a Airedale unit as he's visiting Batley??????
