Probably already been mentioned but, The Great St Trininans Train Robbery is full of them. Inclueing an 08 traveling at nearly 60 mph
The funniest take that I can remember is an episode of Casualty several years ago which featured na train crash. The train featured a Hymek and I think it was filmed on the West Somerset Railway althyough of course it was supposed to be a main line service. The funny bit was the way the bloke on the platform gave the right away, he raised his arm in the correct fashoion but after a few seconds then quickly dropper it to his side with his elbow straight, bending his body at the same time, it reminded me of the way the teachers used to start races at primary school.
.
The current 'Specsavers' Postman Pat commercial. Two sacks of mail, suddenly become two sacks of vegetables.
'Brief Encounter' is set in what used to be called the 'Home Counties', complete with southern commuter belt posh accents. Apparently the director, David Lean chose Carnforth as most filming was done at night and up north there was likely to be less risk of night aircraft raids as it was filmed towards the end of WW2.
I really like the second version of The 39 Steps as the railway sequences are generally very good, however there is one glaring error, when Kenneth More is on the platform in Edinburgh he is at the east end of Waverley, and the train is leaving for Aberdeen, I suppose it could go via the sub but it is highly unlikely.
If you mean the South Suburban, that rejoins at Slateford, west of Haymarket and the junction for Aberdeen, it would only be used if going to Carstairs/Glasgow or the WCML.
Re the class 20 in the bond film, the nose section and the command coach languished at the Railway Museum at Crewe for a number of years, don't know if they are still there.
Jim
In the film quadrophenia, the trains shown are diesel hauled in and out of Paddington, class 50 IIRC, but Jimmy is going from London to the south coast.
'Withnail & I'.... in the scene where they're in the Mk2 Jag and get pulled over by Old Bill, there's a Mk3 Escort in the background, amongst other modern cars.... the film is set in 1969![]()
Wasn't there an outtake in Ben Hur where the director's Ferrari appeared in the background during the chariot race?
