Its time to play guess the route; what route used a X51 branded coach today?

If you said 33A you would be correct. I also notice DD was on the X51 yesterday, I see the coaches still appear on Saturday runs, that will DEFFO bite them on the back side, and it will be there own fault.

Also why as Route 7 mainly operated by Single deckers? Where has the DD gone? there are still plenty of runs which need those DD.

I believe Camdean residents in Rosyth were told that they needed to take the single deckers off due to parked cars hence removal of the 19. 7 would be better as it was double deck so would be easier for drivers. More lies.....

Sad to think all the Scanias are stored in Cowdenbeath while passengers suffer the B7s. Unhappy woman with a buggy on Princes St yesterday when the X55 was not low floor!

Also with the No7 going via Camdeam there have to waste MORE money on providing an extra bus just to give them a 30min Sunday service. I would love to know who these people there asked wanted coaches on the X55 and X51? I think it will have to give and Low floor buses will be back on the X55 sooner rather than later.

The official Stagecoach response is the the Scanias were withdrawn due to passenger feedback.

It was never intended to put deckers on the 7. Aberhill got 6 E300 specifically for the no.7. The deckers are too slow, particularly the newer Enviros. The E300s can shift but still can't keep to the timetable. It is slightly easier getting a decker past the parked cars at Camdean but not ideal as there are a few overhanging trees on the route, particularly at Primrose Lane and Park Road.

That bonkers, there taken off so called slower E400 and been replaced with faster E300 which are now running up to 24mins late?????? Also come the summer there going to have to put the deckers back on either way with the high passengers numbers for the beach etc.

Also its customers service week and stagecoach are getting involed:
It's National Customer Service Week and our employees are gearing up to celebrate the national campaign with a range of local activities throughout the week from 3-7 October.

National Customer Service Week is run by the Institute of Customer Service and aims to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays in successful business practice and the growth of the UK economy.

During National Customer Service Week, Stagecoach’s bus and rail employees across the UK will take part in a series of local activities aimed at highlighting the importance of continuing to deliver good customer service day in, day out for passengers.

Look out for our heritage vehicle on the road in Perth all week, operating on route 7 between Hillend, the city centre and Scone, check the timetable to see when you can try it out. You can nominate your Customer Service Star by completing the form below and a week of activities will take place:

Take a look at throwback Thursday....

Throwback Thursday Directors, Managers and head office staff are going back to the floor on Thursday to chat to customers, answer your queries and get you to where you need to be! Here's where you'll catch some of the team:
* Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director - driving a coach between Fife and Glasgow
* Tom Wardlaw, Operations Manager - assisting customers at Ferrytoll P&R
* Gillian Robertson, Operations Manager - checking tickets and assisting customers on board buses in Glenrothes
* Dave Simpson, Engineering Manager - answering customer queries in the customer services department
* Graeme Muir, Assistant Operations Manager - driving a bus in St Andrews

Don't speculate! Don't make stuff up!

It may well be that the "missing people" are a) keeping an eye on the business whilst the others are on the road or b) have existing commitments

I will be missing from my firm soon. I'm not being shielded from the baying public. I'm on holiday and some of those may be too!!

Sorry but that sort of speculation really annoys me <(

Oh please, you'd never get the likes of Gus Beverage or Martin Griffiths from Perth HQ seen with the lowly public.

They're too busy causing problems with the drivers to be concerned with this...

Fair point, but I never said Ker Corbett was being shielded from the public, I just said he wasn't on the last. He had only been with the company for about 6 months, so there now have to find someone else to be able to fill Mr Kings shoes! That will be no easy task.

As i said Fair point to you. It must be noted, the other two have been extremely enthusiastic about such venture in the past. ;)

Sorry but that's exactly what you did say "I wonder if there been kept away from the public because there the ones to blame?" Maybe that isn't what you meant, but it IS what you said.

As I said, there can be any number of reasons why they can't be there from holidays to minding the shop while the others are busy. Then there's training, other meetings - all sorts of things.

Now, this isn't directed at you but more of a general thing. Most bus company managers are, to a greater or lesser degree, enthusiasts. Many have preserved vehicles themselves. The idea propagated by armchair managers and keyboard warriors that these people never travel on their own services is generally BS.

Some managers can be abrasive or arrogant or dumb, usually in equal proportion to the general public. They're not immune to making mistakes. However, they are the ones that see the numbers and the financials and the latter is what they're judged on. As they said on Top Gear, "how hard can it be?" The answer - a damn sight harder than most gricers will ever know!

Thats very true, Mr javis has a few preserved vehicles. The two not mentioned have been in control over the past two years, their the tw on the front line mucking around with the network, their the two who have seen the profits disappear.

If its the" financials which is what they're judged on", then both have failed since their running around like chickens trying to save every second penny going. If its linked to the bridge then there handed it very badly.

So, what are the financials? How have those changed during their tenure? What external reasons are there?

Also, how do you KNOW what is or isn't going on in that business?

Btw, saving every penny isn't a bad mantra. It's how Stagecoach got to where they are.

I agree, and when there is less money floating around you have to get creative and thats no bad thing.

We will find that out in due course when the accounts appear. Of course one of the external reason is that Forth bridge closure. That did have a knock on effect on a number of other routes which feed into them .

Also, how do you KNOW what is or isn't going on in that business?

I can say everything. I can say publicly i was able to go to the consultation things and the people flat made it clear there losing money somewhere and its needs to stop fast.

If that is the case then why has it taken this long to revise some of the routes. Stirling - Alloa section has mainly been dead for years, yet it kept on ( West Fife - Alloa can be decent and since the F15 disappeared has picked up even more passengers)

To be fair, none of us know the extent of the issues nor, more importantly, the root cause of the problems. Therefore, none of us are really in a position to say anything nor speculate as to whether people are running around like chickens or if people are being protected from the baying masses

Unless, of course, this was explicitly said during the consultation meetings (which I somehow doubt it was)

There did, there were pretty up front about the face their needed to save money. That is fair enough, turnover is not cover outgoing then what else can you do expect tighten the belt or look for more income or passengers.

But the penny pitching is getting beyond a joke now, when there cant even repaint buses or coaches which clearly need done.

They may well have said there was a financial reasons for the changes and the way in which they run their business. Fully accept you reporting that as a statement from them.

However, did they say they were running around like chickens? Did they say that certain people were being "kept away from the public because there (sic) the ones to blame?"

No - that's your opinion. I don't have any issue with people having opinions. If your favourite colour is mauve, or your favourite ice cream is pistachio, well that is fine. Similarly, I don't have any issue with people saying that the Stagecoach fleet looks like it needs a repaint.

Unless you have some genuine insight into the machinations of a business, then all you're left with are spurious and often inaccurate opinions. The usual "a driver told me" doesn't suffice :D If I had a fiver for every bit of duff info a driver told me, I'd be a wealthy man. When I was 15, I may well have believed it all as gospel - thankfully, cynicism is now my default setting!! ;)

Anyway, I am genuinely sorry to have what seems to be an overt pop at you; it is something that gets my ire and you've taken the flak on this occasion.

I don't think it's fair to say buses don't get repaints. The paint shop at Aberhill is always kept going with painters often working overtime. Most buses that join the fleet from other areas are given a repaint. Buses that are VOR for a long period are often repainted.

Yes, there are some that look scabby. But they do get retrimmed inside from time to time, too. For example, 18124 is getting upseated at the moment.

You kept going on about it
Always stand by your convictions. ;)

Swifty is right. Take the uninformed BS out of that thread and it would less than half the size

Thats what a forum is like, its full of useful stuff, BS stuff, useful but unrelated stuff. Its likes normal conversations, but writen down as one collage tutor said to me once. There always having good debates where people try to out do what others are saying. If all we did was post information it would be a blog.

Also its not just us that speculate, companies do it aswell all the time, their think up stuff see if it works and if not park it up to another junction in time

Your kinda highlight the point I'm making since if their working overtime to clear a backlog of buses which need to be repainted. I have nothing against the painter at Aberhill there just working away, but the coaches which were sent down from Aberdeen last November have still not been repainted and some of them baldy need repaints, let alone fixing the rubber seals on the doors, or even having minor retims to get rid dirty old seats. B7 are also falling into the same problems.

Worse thing, its those down at the heel coaches which are now covering the Luxury X24.

I'm sorry but the idea that a forum can just be any old tripe is ridiculous. We have the right to opinions and these can be controversial. We also have an equal responsibility to be accurate (or at least post in the best of faith). However, it is patently ridiculous to post stuff that has no actual basis. Stuff like Swifty has pointed out includes such examples as:

"I've heard from other people York and Leicester could be good ideas, mainly because there out of the way and could be sold of easier than certain other places, while the main core areas kept"

It's like saying "a man called overthewater told me that a friend of his uncle's cat said to him that Brian Souter might be a closet Sikh fundamentalist with a love of ska music" but hey, it's a forum. It doesn't need to true, does it!
