Miracles happen, I'm in too for the assessments (13th). I only wonder whether they are going to make me re-sit the written and paper assessments, as I passed them with Thameslink a couple of years ago, and as far as I know they were enhanced. I hope I can jump straight to the MMI. In the email there is stated not to contact them now because they wouldn't be able to advise, they will tell on the assessment day. I come from Kent so I think I'm going to book a room in a hotel, or perhaps I'll drive leaving very early.
If you passed to enhanced standard a couple of years ago you’ll have a wasted journey, but one I’m sure you won’t mind making given that you’ll still be relieved when they tell you haha. I passed 3.5 years ago at the national standard so just had to to the Group Bourden (because I either didn’t make the higher standard the first time round, or because they couldn’t tell because it was only a national standard requirement?) and the DFFT (because that’s an enhanced only test). Sod’s Law the GB test was at the start of the afternoon and the DFFT at the end of the afternoon....still, it was a day out! (I didn’t have to be there till 1300hrs so travelled up in the day).

I think they ask you to attend anyway because you’ll still be required to ‘register’ with OPC to verify your details etc.

Thank you Stigy, that is what I'm hoping. I don't mind at all going there even for nothing, I'm so relieved to know I've gone through and have another chance. At what stage are you now, if you don't mind me asking. I read all the 86 pages of this thread but I can't remember whether you mentioned it. I remember when you said about the DFFT and the Group Bourdon though.

I passed all stages, but wasn’t offered a job after my DMI. I have a couple of other applications in though. Problem I have is, ideally I need a TOC or FOC who allow my passes up to 5 years as my TOC is only 3, so going with them I’d have to retake all but the GB and MMI.

I received an email last week saying I was in a pool waiting an interview for DB Cargo which is all good, especially as it suggests I don’t need to retake any assesments.

In the process of this myself, don't know if i'll pass all the online stuff yet though, waiting on results.

Does anyone know information about Working Hours / Shift Patterns / Pay ? This all seems pretty elusive so far, would be important to know if it's worth carrying on with as have a family to think about and childcare isn't easy!

Any info appreciated.

All the info is here somewhere, but it’ll require some searching I’m afraid. In a nutshell, the salary varies depending on whether you’re Heavy Haul or Intermodal. Heavy Haul attracts a higher salary once competent of around £51k and Intermodal is around £47k. HH is higher because it’s notvas structured and this not as family friendly (you get your roster on the Wednesday for the following week for example), whereas Intermodal has a 13-week roster chain I believe? With a family, intermodal is almost certainly better I’d say.

Shift wise - it’ll be largely unsociable hours although not as many weekends as one would imagine. Someone on a course might be able to shed more light on it.

Thanks for that, Already work Earlies/Lates/Nights and every other weekend as it is.

Anyone with an idea of what they do out of Wembley, Be it Heavy-Haul or Intermodal as that's where I've chosen. Tried a search on here with keywords of freightliner and wembley but nothing relevant coming back (or i'm not very good at searching forums!)

Have a look at the depots on the FL site, it will say in there.

It's a new depot for FL, not sure it exists yet. Believe it will be HH, probably so they can bid on HS2 contracts?

When you come out of Euston you pass Wembley there are often IM trains waiting. Is it used as a IM link? From the North to London Gateway?

Hi All. New to the forums, been reading through the thread to see others experiences. Just passed the first couple of assesments and been invited to Watford also n the 11th for the other assesments, never gone through this process. Also live in Kent so will see about driving very early to get there in time. Applied for dartford, going to be practicing and just see how I do!

Mate give yourself the best possible chance and book a hotel for the night so you're fresh for the tests.

No mate I never received that email last week, I got the email for medical this morning.

I thought that was the case. Clearly people that were pencilled in for the February course didn’t get the general email. Getting nervous now... hope we all get jobs lol
