The purpose of this thread is to discuss and post your findings of any changes you see on trains and at stations following the transition from East Midlands Trains to East Midlands Railway.

This includes both station and train signage, logo’s, station colour schemes etc. No matter how big or small the change is, your discussion is welcome.

I created this thread solely to stop other threads from getting off-topic posts in them as well as so everything can all be in one place.

So far the following trains have received an East Midlands Railway sticker:
158865, 158770, 156410, 158812.

Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

Having travelled on 156410 today, I can confirm that there is no EMR logo, just new EMR internal posters.

Are these power cars not on a 'hire' to LNER which is why the EMT livery remains on them?
No, they are directly leased to LNER from Porterbrook and have been for some time. They’ve just never received LNER livery for some reason.

Well 061 pops up on EMT services from time to time. I remember working it Leic to Notts just over a year ago. As a Foxes fan I took a pic of the nameplate.

And you would still assume 061 and 075 would at least have the EMT logos removed so their inclusion here is quite justified.

Why? They're never going to get EMR branding, and they never work on the MML, except for a small handful of times.
They are LNER powercars not EMT.

I'm sure someone somewhere will be interested to learn when they have their EMT fleetnames removed... surely!

Ok. It's just odd that they have never taken EMT off the side of the power cars.

Anyway 153302 has now received EMR branding.

I'm guessing it's because of when one of the actual EMT powercars replaces either 075/061, it doesn't look out of place?

Does anyone else tire of the considerable waste of money involved in this continual rebranding ?
I don't mind an internal and external refurbishment of stock at regular intervals, but when you see the same service or lack of, same trains, same stations, same staff, increasing prices and lack of comfort and seats, it's quite irritating to see new stickers, new liveries and minor cosmetic adjustments.
And apart from the few enthusiasts, the general public probably won't even notice the stickers. A passenger travelling from London to Sheffield couldn't really care whether it's called EMT, EMR or ERM. They want a seat, at a reasonable price at the time of their choosing.

Privatisation doesn't seem to have improved comfort, capacity or reduced prices for customers. It has simply diverted revenue into the pockets of PR merchants, branding consultants and those providing the stickers, posters and paint. Rant over.

The belief is that most new liveries now will carry on to the next franchise regardless of operator. This explains First losing their corporate livery from GWR, TPE etc.... Northern livery will now remain into the next franchise regardless of operator. As EMR takes on a Stagecoach branded franchise then the new livery will be fixed at the next change.

Don't worry. They'll stick with it until 80% of the fleet is done and then change it all again.

It's too dark for my liking. And dark colours sometimes show more of the dust and dirt.
A nice neutral silver or grey which didn't need to be changed with every franchise would do.

Problem with First. Stagecoach and Virgin is they cover the whole train in their corporate colours so the trains have to be re-painted when new owner takes over. Thameslink, Great Northern branding seems better with little to change if the franchise changed hands.

Whilst that is true for EMR, SWR, LNER, TFW, LNR, WMR, and Northern, the GWR rebrand was a Firstgroup initiative that may or may not last into the next franchise as-is. I'm not sure about TPE.

They are currently in the process of repainting Shirebrook station on the Robin Hood line. It’s the same blue and orange colour scheme as before.

All stations have to be returned in a decent condition hence the quick repaint of the local stations into blue, some replacement of benches and other furniture where needed, some of which were peeling away to reveal a motley assortment of colours. The orange is only being used where required to comply with disability rules I believe.

Nottingham is the main exception - it was listed in it's current BR Regional Railways colours and thus will remain that way permanently regardless of the operator, the only thing that changes is the signage. As a result it's just being repainted in it's existing colours. It's a pleasing enough colour scheme so not really an issue.

Good idea about the rolling stock, but surely anything to do with stations will now be in the wrong forum? Mind there’s usually relatively little to say about station paintwork and signage so maybe it doesn’t really matter...

I couldn’t really find an appropriate section to place this thread in, but I suppose this section suits it the most.

I got the idea from the WMT thread, which also posts updates about station paintwork and signage. That is too placed in the Traction & Rolling Stock section.

Same in the SWR livery thread. I don’t really think it’s a problem.

158810 done today

43049/66/76/82 all debranded. 43050/81 carrying 11 years of EMT branding

222012 emr intercity brand
156404 emr regional brand

156405 has received its EMR stickers.
Thank you for the updates. Hopefully power cars 50 and 81 are on the special HST tomorrow so I can get a picture.

I will update the list over the weekend to save filling the thread up with lots of really long posts and there after once or twice a week depending what happens.

Thanks, that’s interesting! So it’s possible they could be painting it again in a few weeks?
