Series 2, episode 1 has just aired on Channel 4. I didn't realise it was on and only caught the last half-hour, but it looks like interesting viewing. Series 1 must have passed me by completely; I was hoping it would be on All4, but there's nothing but a "coming soon" page.

I've seen some of this before plus a lot of the East coast mainland shots are of Virgin trains so quite old & not a new series.

Yes I got as far as her visit to the caravan, oops mobile home park at Marshall Meadows, and thought I'd seen this before and switched off. In Radio Times it's billed as a "revised repeat", so is some of the programme actually new?

Thought only Channel 5 passed off slightly revised previously-aired footage as "new".

It's the first 2 episodes together, as one minute she's crossing the Forth Bridge then appears on the west highland line at Banavie!

She started her journey at Newcastle, with footage of a train departing southbound.

Good programme, I thought. Obviously, you wouldn't look to a Channel 4 documentary for accurate details of railway operations, but there were some gems like the 'secret passage' between the Balmoral hotel and Waverley station. She's a lot more fun and empathetic than the wooden Michael Portilo.

Was this just a one off or is it a series?
The original "Coastal Railways with Julie Walters" series (broadcast in late 2017) was a four parter.

Episodes 1 and 2 you've effectively just seen again.

Episode 3 featured Devon and Cornwall and Episode 4 included Wales and Liverpool. It's entirely possible that C4 might concertina these remaining two episodes together as yet another (hour and a half) 'revised repeat'.

I might give this a watch on All4 tomorrow. It’s probably not high-quality television but I do enjoy these programmes often to just identify the places I’ve been myself.

And she claimed the Balmoral/North British Hotel was built by the Great Northern.
Either misremembered or she got handed a duff script.

Presumably the hotel was originally built by the North British Railway Company (the clue being its former name?)

I had a nice chat with one of the station Police officers about this a number of years ago because the walkway continues further than you would expect just for the passenger traffic.

Just got round to the watching this last night. I promptly turned it off after 10 minutes when she announced she was departing her train at Drem - which looked suspiciously like North Berwick station - to then go and visit North Berwick.
