Does this mean the dft inspired additional "seated train" which runs ahead of the Sleeper Plymouth - Penzance for local journeys can be dispensed with ? (Sleeper runs as set down only PLY - Cornwall due to those nasty slam doors ! )
Oh God I hope so. The bain of the sleeper drivers lives at present. Catch it up by Keyham and at various points between there and Penzance.
How folk are supposed to sleep through it when the train is constantly coming up against adverse signals caused by the stopper running a few minutes infront. A real own goal this one.
I try to hang right back as much as I can and think my record was when I didn't catch it until St Germans. Must of been a good driver on the stopper that day lol.

57604 failed at Bodmin last night on up working. 602 which was on the rear took it back to Lostwithiel and ran round onto the front, 183 minutes late by Liskeard. The stopper behind terminated at Par then empty to Plymouth with passengers transferred to taxi's.

SLEPD 10616 is currently having its droplights modified to open via CDL. No door handle inside, they can be closed when CDL locked but only opened when unlocked. Trial so may be changed.

Hard to see, but from that photo it looks like you could get maybe half inch? Not sure.
This really is getting hot nowadays. Gone are the days when they trusted the public to open doors and windows safely.!

The trouble with this is going to be that the guard won't be able to see whether all the windows are closed, unless he's got to walk through the train and check them all before departure which is going to make things very slow indeed!

I'm not sure why they don't just do the HST power door conversion - or does something in a Sleeper vehicle get in the way?

Cost - and you'd have to have a whole set at a time out for conversion. That's before you think about fitting traction/brake interlock to the 57s.

Window does not have to be shut for the CDL to work so can leave station open. Train crew will shut later.
Have not seen any operational procedure yet so can't say exactly how it will be carried out.

57602 is the latest in the line for bogie/wheelset refurb with work starting this week so don't be surprised if 310 starts making more appearances as train engine.

When you say 310 do you mean 306?

And what does that do for Thunderbird capability in the Thames Valley for electrically stranded 387s?

Yes 306 too early in morning ! Supposed to be loco of last resort as train engine but with a daily requirement of 3 in a fleet of 4 with one out for planned maintenance, should see some use.

Hi - apologies if the answer to this question is already in this thread - I’ve searched but without luck yet.

How does the ECS between Penzance and Long Rock work - does a shunter bring the empty stock in with the train loco attached and ready to go? Same in the mornings - does a shunter drag the empty stock back out?
Thanks

Usual practice is the ECS is propelled to/from Long Rock with a shunter (person not 08) in the rear vestibule overseeing the propelling move and liaising with the driver via radio. Standard practice for loco-hauled trains at terminal stations to propel to/from the depot/sidings, there just aren’t too many traditionally loco hauled trains left in this country!

Its very rare these days for the 08 to venture away from Long Rock.

It's currently 4 sleeper coaches but one is still locked OOU. I'd imagine it will be in use from the 17th of May though.
That's interesting, perhaps this is in the set in case a coach becomes a failure to avoid excess people ending up in seated coaches causing social distancing issues ?
