Yes I believe the new sidings are just being finished off and then they’ll move some down to Worcester for storage and crew training!
The existing sidings at Worcester Shrub Hill not used for stabling GWR IET or steel trains have been put back into to use for stabling of 196's overnight for when they finally are into service on the Hereford to New Street service

It wouldn’t surprise us if they will be used for storing 196s as Tyseley cannot accept any more units as the 4car 196's are causing problems blocking walking routes.

Could anyone help with the coach numbers for the 196/0 fleet please?
I've got the 196/1 fleet as:-
1211**1221**1231**1241**

But no idea on the /0 units.

Thanks
The /0s will most likely be 1210** and 1240** (assuming these are the DMSOs)

Further information -
The three sidings at Shrub Hill known as the “Hereford sidings” all having names dating back to GWR days "Beerhole", "Brake" & "Cripple" have had their track renewed, and new american style points have been installed.
The Service road at both Worcester and Tyseley TMD will need to be redesigned as 196 fuel connection, Tanking hose & CET point are in completely different places from those on 170s and 172s.

Not exactly lookers are they? First thing that came to mind was the proboscis monkey - cue any related nicknames for the 196s? And the font for the set number seems much smaller than normal.

A 196 went to Hereford and back last night.
If all goes well it should go again tonight.

This PDF document contains the coach numbers, interoperability e.t.c.

Yes WMT's obsession with end gangways has led to their new units being aesthetically disadvantaged.
Is that a problem? Gangways are far more useful on units which will be coupled together than aesthetics.

Is there any information that may be shared with the public as to why this has happened.

Is there going to be anything getting underway to Shrewsbury soon?
Happy to be corrected, but I believe the plan is to get the 196s into service on the Hereford services first, so I wouldn’t expect much testing towards Shrewsbury yet, notwithstanding the current hiatus in testing.
