Anyone know what has happened at Church Fenton? All lines seem to be blocked between Leeds and York and nothing running that way at the moment.

Looks more like a possession on the line through platform 4 to Colton Junction, going by Traksy.

Looks like a mix of bustitution from Micklefield and diversions via Castleford to access platforms 1 and 2 at Church Fenton

TPE services between Newcastle and Liverpool are being turned back at Leeds and York while other services are diverting via Castleford depending on train crew route knowledge. Generally York based crews sign Castleford but Newcastle and Liverpool crews dont. Some service substitutions are seeing the now rare sight of 185s running vice 802 up to newcastle. I would expect XC to also be either diverting via Castleford towards normanton or via Doncaster and possibly avoiding Leeds completely, again depending on route knowledge and track capacity. Mutual ticket acceptance is in place between LNER, EMR, XC, TPE and Northern via any reasonable route.
LNER and GC services are unaffected as the derailment is at Church Fenton. The Leeds route is blocked but the normanton lines are open

11:07 starting YRK-NCL (08:54 ex LIV), 12:44 NCL-LIV 16:54 LIV-NCL 185 vice 802 - This may be subject to alteration depending on route knowledge

And we now have a bridge bash between Darlington and Durham!

The only full cancellation on TPE at the moment seems to be a Scarborough to York which in theory isn't affected by either incident but in practice probably has a crew shortage or something due to one or the other!

Just out of interest, do they have to cut all the new rails at wagon ends to lift the wagons back on, or can it be done with load in situ

According to that highly respected news organisation the Huddersfield Examiner and its online version Yorkshire Live, it's a "crash" causing "huge delays and cancellations".

0640/0843/0947 Newcastle-Liverpool (9M14/18/20) seem to have gone via Castleford.
But northbound TP has more cancellations.
XC seems to be mostly diverting via Castleford, sometimes with only 10m delay (one unconnected cancellation was with a train fault at Dunbar).
(All from RTT; you can tell when the train "vanishes" from its WTT timings between Church Fenton and Leeds.)

Is it possible to add some additional Leeds - Yorks via Harrogate to help with capacity to York?

Judging by RTT, TPE are running via Castleford then in and out of Leeds, not diverting via the Whitehall curve or Horbury.

Probably not, because of the single line sections, staff availability and unit availability (only Northern sign York-Harrogate). It's also a very slow way round.

Quickest route and gets them nicely to lines E/F for onward journey towards Manchester.

Probably not. It's a very slow way round with the difficulties of single lines etc. I suspect you'd be better off running as many services as possible through to Micklefield from Leeds and using buses to fill the gap.

When i had the LWRT off the road at Crystal Palace a few years back we had to cut all the rails as they were quite distorted and the train can't run unless the rails can move freely.

I suspect missing Leeds would cause TPE more issues: for example there are likely to be a reasonable number of passengers who have Leeds as their destination or are waiting there to get on a service.

There may also be crew changeovers there on some services?

Leeds is one of the biggest markets so no sense to miss, there is also crew changeovers to do.

As an aside most TPE crews don't sign Whitwood Jn to Altofts Jn.

And they reverse at Leeds regularly for planned diversions, so it's not as though they're not used to doing it that way anyway.
