Very good view from there. Prior to the new depot opening what facilities were available for train crew and staff - is it much improved from before?
Pretty much the same just on a larger scale and newer, though around every corner in the new building seems to be toilets and showers!

There was a large "temporary" single storey building dating from 1992 by P2. The previous traincrew building in the old Movements block on P1 was closed pending repairs which never happened. Sadly that may be demolished for P2 bay extention. The new building is a bit sterile at the moment but I'm sure they'll make it a home.

What would an official/formal opening be for? It's just an office building.
£56m investment in the Southwest by a train company. Usually like to crow about things like that; wheel out the MP and other dignitaries. Maybe they knew about the 800s cracks was coming?

Like anyone cares except the people down here :P

Going to take a while to get used to this thing, but the old goods shed was hardly photogenic anyway. P2 extension sounds promising, any idea what it's for? Presumably terminating the services that currently terminate at Taunton? you can fit what, 4 cars in there right now?

Perhaps the Okehampton trains that are not going through to Central will terminate there.

I'd of thought they'd fit anyway. Isn't it so you can fit a 5 car Voyager in; or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

The idea is platform 2 will be capable to accommodate a 5 car IET, 5 car Voyager or Castle HST set
