Good evening, does anyone know if Grand Central have reduced their service from KGX to Bradford, I may be going there for a holiday in July, I see there is a train around 1057 and another around 1600 ish, but I think there was one between these two around 1400 ihs, that does not seem to be on their website at the moment.? Also can you but or take alcohol, wine, normally on their services.? Some TOCs don't allow this anymore. :(

Thanks Steve.

Bradford for a holiday? o_O
Why not? - curries, Brontes, KWVR, Saltaire, museums....
Only 3 GC trains per day I think; no free refreshments in 1st but that didn't include alcohol - their website will say if they are "dry."

Yes that's what I thought, and it would be the train that I was hoping to use, a friend is joining me from South Wales and he won't get to London until noonish so the 1400ish would have been ok, oh well, I shall have to go on LNER via Leeds.

Yes, that is the reason for the trip, we are joining a rail based trip, Bradford is very well placed in fact and probably a bit cheaper than Leeds, the holiday will include visits to the KWVR, Saltaire, Middleton Railway, Embsay Railway, the Staycation Express (which I understand may either be loco hauled as it was last year, or a 125 set, I don't mind which really.) We are also having a trip on the canals and seeing the 3 & 5 rise locks.

The firm I am going with also does another Holiday to Scunthorpe. That one includes, trips on the Lincs Wolds Railway, the narrow gauge line at Cleethorpes, a trip on the Lincoln Canal and hopefully the highlight will be the Steelworks Railway at Scunthorpe.

To be fair by the time the 1448 got to Bradford is wasn't far in front of the 16xx because the 1448 went via Pontefract and the 16xx went Doncaster and straight to Wakefield via Fitzwilliam

As for being cheaper than Leeds, I stayed in Bradford for work every fourth Saturday night for over three years, and found the Premier Inn near the Interchange was usually in the £30-35 range if booked in advance, whereas similar hotels in central Leeds would be double, even triple that. Occasionally in the summer months the Premier Inn would be a bit more, but then the Bradford Central Travelodge (near Forster Sq) would often be sufficiently cheaper to justify the trek across the city centre.

Enjoy your trip, Stevieboy1!

Thank you, in fact I have stayed at that Premier Inn Near Interchange, it was fine, very good. Yes, Looking forwards to it. I always enjoy my trips to Yorkshire, Northumbria, Durham and Cumbria. I even have faces masks for some of these towns/cities and Counties. Just have to ensure I don't wear the wrong colours Rose in Yorks and Lancs or a blacks & White NUFC mask when I go south of the Tyne.
