Good afternoon, all being well, I will being staying in Bradford in Mid July and would like to do the following journey, using my Senior Rail card, I wish to break the journey in the morning for an hour or so at Saltaire. Would the following trains be ok using a day return fare of £10.80.

Brad F.Sq 09.07 Arrive Saltaire 09.17

Saltaire 10.22 to Keighley, arrive 10.40 (There is another approx. 20mins later)
connect deps Keighley 11.13 Arr Ribblehead 12.07

Dep Ribblehead 16.14, Arr Shipley 17.19
connect deps Shipley 17.28, Arr Brad F. Sq 17.36

Athough the Northern Trains website said to book seats on the Ribblehead trains, it does not seem to give seat numbers when I tried doing a dummy booking.

Many thanks.

Off peak day return from Bradford Stns Yk to Ribblehead (route via Skipton) valid after 0859 and is priced at £10.80 with Senior rail card discount. Restriction code is B3.

Saltaire is on route for your planned itinerary, so that's not an issue, and if I rightly recall, multiple breaks of journey are possible on a day return ticket, including the outward leg.

Can anyone further advise as regards seat reservation availability on those Northern services calling at Ribblehead?

There's no seat reservations available.

Where does it say that, out of interest? Edit: ah, I think I see what you mean - when you book it gives you the option of making a seat reservation. It shouldn't, Northern don't have any services with seat reservations!

That's great, thank you, I thought it would all be ok, but could not work out after what time I could travel using the senior railcard. (My friend has a disabled card, would the same time restriction apply to him)?

There's no seat reservations available.

I thought it was a bit odd. :)

The off peak day return ticket on that flow (Bradford -> Ribblehead) is valid after 0859, so as this is not a journey in the London/ South East area, you'll be o.k., and yes, it's the same £10.80 price / time restrictions for a valid disabled railcard holder.

Whilst Northern don't offer any seat reservations, since the May timetable they have made all their services reservable for "counted place" purposes. Presumably to potentially offer advances on a greater number of routes/maybe extra info on loadings. So the unenlightened end user will see 'reservations available' more than they did previously.

The trains on this line have had counted place reservations (and advance fares) available for some time.
