Hi Tracey87blue, yes Northern depots. I did a DMI and passed it last year, but HR are struggling to find a record of it! So waiting for a decision either way
Hopefully they either find it or get you through another DMI asap.
I was told my DMI would be week commencing the 2nd Aug but havent heard anything. I applied for Cardiff or Taffs Well. Will keep waiting ‘patiently’

Hi,
I was emailed on 13th July that I’d passed the paper tests in Chester the previous week, and that I’d be given a date for the computer tests ‘very soon’ if I hadn’t had them already.
I haven’t heard back yet, I’ve emailed Laura gently enquiring if there was any progress and that I was worried I may have been missed off a list, but not reply yet…just wondering if anyone else from the Chester paper tests was in a similar position or if I have been forgotten?!

I know patience is a virtue, I’m just hoping that I haven’t slipped through the net!

Hi Jeff - I think from reading the forum there have only been two rounds of Part 2 tests so far from those of us at Chester earlier in July.
What depots are you in for?
That could be a factor due to TFW need etc

Ahh ok thanks for replying-I have been looking through the messages on here but obviously missed that!
I’m in for Chester, I’ll try to forget it and just wait for the email to drop into my inbox!

Summer Hols could play a part too
Hope you hear soon

Out of interest, what's the procedure after you have had a medical? Do you get told straightaway if you have passed? If you have passed are there further steps? How long after you passed is a job offer made?

Thanks

P.s no I have not had a medical yet
Apologies for the delay, when I had my medical, I didn't hear anything at all. They will only contact you if there is a problem. Literally, no news is good news, as they say! Hope it goes well for you.

I should add, After the medical, then next thing I heard was the Background / DBS check then right to work documentation and a date for the course. A month after the medical, I was ordering my uniform and sending photos off for my ID etc. Fingers crossed it shouldn't take too long.

HELP PLS. I have been invited to an assessment day next Thursday @ Chester so trying to do as much prep as I can. Am I right in thinking this will just be the paper and pencil tests? Or will it also be the perception, vigilance and hand co-ordination tests with a computer as well? Or could it potentially be the SJE & MMI as well if you pass the others?
The email says it could last up to 3 hours. Thanks.

It should say in email what tests it will be. Did you get prep materials?
Yes received a 90 page train driver assessment document that starts with the dot style tests and finishes with the MMI. Email says:
In addition, to help you prepare for the assessment, please see attached the Practice Test Materials Booklet which contains exercises similar to those you will be taking part in on the day. We would recommend you print this – in colour - for ease of use. You will potentially sit all the exercises contained in the booklet, so it’s important that you give yourself the best opportunity to succeed by taking time to work through the pack.

You can expect to be with us for up to three hours on the day - feel free to dress comfortably, a suit is not necessary.

Did you sit all your tests in one day?
Hi mate - no
Paper test at Stage 1 takes about 3 hours
Written Communication
Group Bourdon
Tones test
TRRP test - GLOP
Dials Test
Complete a questionnaire for the MMI in stage 2

Stage 2 was a few weeks later
SJE - not scored but links to MMi
Vigilance Test
Concentration Test
2 Handed Coordination Test
If you pass those it’s the MMI

hope that helps

That helps massively thank you. At least I know what to practice for now. I’ve been practising the dots and dial tests which are readily available with a quick google search. Any other tips/advice on how to practice what to expect without sounding too cheeky. Thanks.

I'd say that those you've practiced are the only ones you realistically can. I personally only practiced bourdon. Then I just read these forums.

Hi everyone, this is the first time I've posted on here but I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the contributions people have made on this thread. I have my Paper Assessments in Chester on Thursday and the information available on here has really helped me to prepare and certainly made me feel much more relaxed about what to expect.

Best of luck to everybody on here, whichever stage of the process you may currently be at!

Yes this forum has also been of great help for me so thanks everyone. I have my assessment day this Thursday in Chester as well. One thing I haven’t been able to get an answer to though is the dot test scoring? Do you get downgraded for missing dots or just crossing the wrong ones if that makes sense. I normally get to line 10 without any errors but occasionally miss a few out? Any ideas anyone??

Good luck. Hopefully, you won’t have too long to wait.
I have mine on Wednesday at 10.30am.
In the email they included potential questions, did they do the same for you? If so, did they stick to them?
