Pitching-in Northern Premier League...Premier Division

Hyde United 2 ... FC United of Manchester 1

In this derby match. Hyde scored twice early in the first half, with FC United pulling a goal back in the second half.

A four-figure attendance as usual for this derby match.... 1,194.
In the Hyde United match today, the visitors were reduced to 10 men after half an hour following a red card, but despite this handicap, very nearly levelled the game in the closing stages, with the home goalkeeper having to make a smart penalty save to ensure the win.

Oh dear.. after an excellent pre-season and a new stadium to play in, expectations were very high coming into this season. 3 games in, 3 losses and bottom of the National League North. The worst full time professional team in the country and an incompetent board means this season looks like it will be another drag. When we got relegated down here in 2017, we definitely still didn't expect to be down here and in all honesty, we could go even lower.

Has all the focus and money at York been utilised on the new stadium (at the expense, perhaps, of the team?) :s

Interesting stat (not that it helps you). Of the seven teams without a win this season, six are former Football League teams (yes, I know that some have been reincarnated). 'Previous results are no guarantee of future performance'.

Today brings everyone's favourite orgy of naked vulture capitalism, diplomatic sportswashing, monetary inflation and sensationalist drivel.

That's right: it's DEADLINE DAY.

Here's the rundown:

- Former Juventus forward and alleged rapist Cristiano Ronaldo has completed a return to Manchester United

- Real Madrid have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Kylian Mbappé Lottin from PSG

- Chelsea may trigger the £77m release clause of Sevilla defender Jules Koundé

- Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Barcelona full-back Emerson Royal for £30m

- Leeds United will sign Man Utd winger Daniel James for £20m

- West Ham United are racing to complete the signature of Ajax left-back Nicolás Tagliafico

- Crystal Palace are nearing the signing of Celtic striker Odsonné Edouard for £15m

- Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been instructed to train with the Arsenal U20s but is not being allowed to leave

World Cup Qualifying ... Asia Group

Japan 0 ... Oman 1

This was a bad result for Japan, made even worse by being a home-based match.

*********************************************************************************************************************************

The Welsh Cup has already recorded some remarkable scores this season, with some winning teams scoring double figures in the early qualifying round matches, but today, there really was an eye-catching score.....

Bala Town 17 ... Brymbo 1

Well, at least Brymbo scored one!

Another result from today was Darlington 1... Bradford 2. Hopefully @Cowley won't need to step in to prevent a virtual fight breaking out in this thread!

Looks like I might have to. ;)

Which Bradford?

There is Park Avenue and City.

From your post in the thread about things you’d like to ban @adrock1976

Also, when presenters or commentators refer to Bradford City as Bradford, not realising that Bradford also has another football team called Bradford Park Avenue.

FA Cup: Mossley 4 ... Newton Aycliffe 15 (rather closer, but to score 4 and be thrashed).

When teams hit the double figures, I hope they give the sub who turns up every week but never get off the bench more than a couple of minutes. League (or two legged cups) are different but no one is going to come back from being 7 or 8 down in the last quarter of an hour.

This was actually a 1-0 home win for Mossley. Suspect that someone at Seel Park has texted the result in incorrectly, and that 415 was the gate figure today.

Someone has corrected it on the BBC website now. I just hope no-one from Newton Aycliffe has read my post and ordered 'drinks all round'.

@DarloRich will be most unhappy with that result, whatever Bradford team turned up to play them.

You wont have to break anything up. We are total bobbins. Played 3. Lost 3. We are $ hite. Cant defend simple balls into the box. York ,Blyth and Brackley coming up. It will soon be played 6 lost 6.

The suprise is we only gave 2 goals away. We have lost 3 games to chorley, alfreton and BPA. Three bang average teams and we have 0 points.

Ps Always good when the rubbush keeper you gave a free to in the summer has a blinder against you. Ffs.

Seeing as we play in national league north it wont be city

Whatever has happened to Hyde United of late? No consistency whatsoever. I understand that the name of the Stockport County legend Jim Gannon has been mentioned recently in managerial terms.

Today's FA Cup "early stages" match result.... Morpeth Town 6 ... Hyde United 1 ... <(

Jim Gannon is indeed the newly appointed Hyde United first team manager. Can't imagine he would have been too impressed by today's "performance" in the FA Cup. Link to post match interview below...

This is shaping out to be one of the best Premier League seasons ever. And Ronaldo, he and Messi truly are the greatest players ever. They just keep on going, Ronaldo was the best player in the world when he left United, and is still arguably the best player in the world 12 years later now.

I wonder if @DarloRich would agree with the Ronaldo part of your posting above, as he made some "very definite" postings views about him a few years ago on this thread.

Winchester City 7 (SEVEN)...Barnstaple Town 1 (King 19, Bailey 59, 62, Feeney 69, Griggs 88, Smith 90, Mlambo 90+1; Bello pen 26)

Winchester City are getting into their stride and looked to make it three wins in a row following victories at Slimbridge and Gosport. A screamer from Danny King was cancelled out by a penalty, but it rained goals in the final half hour as a quickfire double from Bailey was followed by a goal from Feeney before three goals in four minutes put the gloss on the result.

Other results:

Bideford 0...Sholing 3

Bristol Manor Farm 1...Melksham Town 3

Cinderford Town 1...AFC Totton 8 (EIGHT)

Cirencester Town 1...Frome Town 1

Lymington Town 3...Evesham United 1

Mangotsfield United 1...Larkhall Athletic 4

Paulton Rovers 2...Highworth Town 3

Slimbridge 2...Willand Rovers 3

People can say what they like about Ronaldo, but I had to chuckle when I found out that Ronaldo is actually about 8 months older than Wayne Rooney so has certainly looked after himself and is still playing at a very high level

He is an excellent footballer ( not sure "best ever" as few of us have seen all of the competition) but I still maintain he is a preening show pony and his histrionics are infuriating.

Young Boys 2- 1 Manchester United at Wankdorf Stadium. A tactical disaster class from the manager I think.

Edit: just flipped the teams the right way round

well football is a strange game: Brackley Town 1 v Darlington 3

Brackley flying start to the season derailed by improving Darlo! Brackley were top, we were bottom with 1 point form 4 games. Madness. We still couldn't defend balls into the box mind!

This was my first game of football since 7th Match 2020

The way that you have entered the posting above gives the impression that the British team had a home match, but played it abroad for some strange reason, especially as a home match played in England would normally draw an attendance of over 70,000.

It goes to show that Darlington, after a slow start to the season, finally recognised your undoubted skills. What position did you play in and did you play the full 90 minutes...

In a Champions League group match, Barcelona without their talisman Messi, lost their home match 0-3 against their old Champions League rivals Bayern Munich, for whom their talisman Lewandowski scored twice in the second half.

Back in England, in the Tuesday night Pitching-In Northern Premier League, Premier Division, Hyde United, under their new manager Jim Gannon, seemed to become more mindful of defensive requirement after their recent F A Cup 1-6 away heavy loss at Morpeth Town and beat Stafford Rangers 1-0 to move into ninth place.

There was a rather dramatic scoreline in the same league last night... Matlock Town 9 ... Witton Albion 0.

Home win wasn't unexpected last night, but apparently the regular Witton goalkeeper was injured during the pre-match warm up and so was unable to take part in the game. Very definitely not the best of evenings for his understudy!
