Looks like all signals have failed to red between East Road crossing and Hitchin. Several trains stopped in stations. Some stranded between. Believe the plan is to talk 9J69 past signals into Arlesey and 1T65 and 2C69 to set back to Baldock and Letchworth respectively.

1N35, 1D33 and 1T66 all at signals with no platform. Not sure what the plan is for T66. Guess set back to Stevenage possibly.

1T66 and 1D33 will be returning to Stevenage. The former has just arrived in platform 1, the latter will be going to platform 2.

Update 23:15

Network Rail have advised that staff on site are securing the points on the Down Fast so 1D33 can be brought forward through the affected area.

Emergency Special Working will also be in place by 23:45, allowing trains to run on all lines through the affected area.

The decision to prioritise 1D33 over the other affected services will likely be in part because the 91+Mk4 set on it will be needed at Neville Hill tonight. Less of an issue with the other two Northbound LNER services as the unit from 1N35 could resort to stabling at Bounds Green if required, and the set for 1N36 was booked to stable at York station anyway so not the end of the world if it needed to spend the night at Kings Cross.

1A52 and 1E27 have both been held at Peterborough.

More the fact 1D33 has over 250+ customers on, that becomes a priority.

1N35 has roughly 125, if that was cancelled and unit would still ultimately have to head north, as there is no space at Bounds Green for an additional unit

Set for 1N35, and 1N36 if you leave them in London, how you getting the people home?
Its extremely hard obtaining coaches at this time of night.
What are you then going to do with those sets tomorrow morning? They can't stay at Kings Cross to work there booked return workings.

There would be the space at Bounds Green as there's two Southbound sets stuck at Peterborough, if the line remained shut they'd not be heading south to Bounds Green.

I was only mentioning leaving those in London under the context of the line remaining closed and there being no reasonable alternative. As things stand the line remains shut. Obviously you don't want to leave the people in London if you don't have to.

As for sets staying at Kings Cross to work the booked workings the following day, that has happened several times before including earlier this year.

As things stand, the line is open, 1D33 is currently liasing with signaller confirming emergency special working and then moving forward.

It has just reopened - it hadn't when I typed my previous post.

1D33 and 1N35 are both now on the move. 1N36 and 1D36 remain at Kings Cross, whilst 1A52 and 1E27 remain at Peterborough and have now been joined there by 1E29 also waiting to go south.

I notice (from the OTT maps) still nothing is moving southbound, is there still a problem with running that way even though a train has made it northbound?

Also, 1E27 and 1E29 (the two Edinburgh services waiting at Peterborough) have become 5E27 and 5E29, so guess they aren't even planning on running them

1A52 has now gone south from Peterborough, likely also with the passengers from 1E27 and 1E29. The unit from 1E27 has now also left Peterborough heading south as 5E27 direct to Bounds Green.

1N36 and 1D36 though moving both remain south of Stevenage and are stuck behind the Willesden - Low Fell Royal Mail working which is 100mph max.

It had technically reopened when you sent your post, hence I why I said on my post it had.

2345 the line opened, but it takes time for signaller to issue permissions for trains to move under emergency special working.

Just because a train does not move on a map, does not mean line is open to traffic.

There was two minutes difference between the line reopening and my post saying it was still closed, the information had not fed back to me within those two minutes and therefore at the time of posting as far as I was aware the information was correct. Errors like that happen.

I can assure you that I did not make an assumption from looking at a track map, and was well aware that the line had reopened before anything was moving.
