Incredibly difficult to know what to do in that position. One of our old cats had a long term health condition and had been very slowly deteriorating for a year or so. The uncertainty was horrible, from both directions, ie did we let her suffer longer than we should or conversely was she still relatively happy when we made the decision. It's harder to judge with cats than dogs as they're far less likely to show they're in pain or discomfort.

Exactly that @gg1 .

White chocolate.

Utterly vile stuff that ruins anything it's added to. It also isn't chocolate.
Inclined to agree. Didn't even like it when I was a kid. And what's the difference between "white chocolate" and whatever usually passes for milk/dark chocolate these days? Presumably a complete absence of any cocoa solids which I think is the key ingredient that normally gives proper chocolate its flavour and colour?

I take it the Milky Bars aren't on you..
Certainly not!

The only thing I can just about tolerate it in is cookies (as long as there's proper chocolate in there too), but even then I'd rather it wasn't there.

My proposed ban of white chocolate was inspired by a post in the thread that's the opposite of this one, mentioning white chocolate flavour hot chocolate... ***where's the puke emoji?***

The increasing use of the word cookie for things we eat with tea, etc. We have a perfectly good word for them, ‘biscuit’, so why don’t we use it instead of using an imported word which, according to someone who lived on the other side of the pond, refers to a sub-group of biscuits.

I can accept cookie being used for the pseudo spyware on the internet. It is a recent concept and it does need a name.

I don't recall every seeing or hearing the work cookie used in Britain as an over arching term for all types of biscuits, rather it means here a very specific type of biscuit, in much the same way you might refer to digestives, custard creams, rich teas etc.

Biscuits in America mean something completely different anyway, referring to something similar to a scone.

The OED definition for cookie has usage from Scotland in 1730.
1. a. In Scotland the usual name for a baker's plain bun; in U.S. usually a small flat sweet cake (a biscuit in U.K.), but locally a name for small cakes of various form with or without sweetening. Also S. Afr. and Canad.

c1730 Burt Lett. N. Scot. (1760) II. xxiv. 272 In the Low-Country the Cakes are called Cookies

The OED definition for biscuit has usage from the 14th century as a savoury "cracker", and the 16th century as a sweet thing.

Ban people who don't understand that Gmail addresses are the same whether full stops are in the address or otherwise. This morning I've received someone else's tax return (with all NI and address details intact) and last week I received someone else's hotel stay receipt. Can confirm the Langham in Chicago appears to be pretty pricey...sadly it wasn't me who stayed there.
I got a very very good quote on a deck for a house in Tucson a few years back, though in that case it was from a man who had the same first and middle initials as me but two letters in his surname the opposite way around.

I love white chocolate. I should've been the milky bar kid.

I don't really like plain chocolate. I hate it when my customers give me dark choc digestives. I couldn't eat plain choc on it's own.
So plain chocolate digestives should be banned.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Cadburys Dairy Milk should be banned, or at least returned to something vaguely edible. Kraft claimed not to have changed the ingredients but something is definitely different from the CDM I remember from even just a decade ago. Unpleasant claggy sludge. Give me Lindt, Milka or Tony's Chocolonely any day of the week.

Can't argue with that.

Sadly this was wholly predictable when and American bought out Cadburys, although Dairy Milk still has a long way to fall before it reaches the depths of the vomit flavoured lumps which pass for chocolate in the US.

Leaving football matches early because your team is losing.

Seconded. Although I nearly gave in and left when Halifax were away at Macclesfield and it was absolutely bucketing down and the away end has no roof. We lost 7-0 but I stuck it out to the end

chocolate

except hot chocolate and chocolate cakes.

Oh and chocolate digestives in limited amounts.

And chocolate buttons in tiny increments. And that's it (chocolate ice-cream is fine too)

Nimbys.

The ones around here have been leafletting the street the past few days advising us a 5G mast is being installed and we should all contact the council planning department to object, the strapline to the leaflet is "Do we really want this eyesore at the entrance to our estate?".

The estate in question is a fairly pleasant but otherwise utterly bog standard 1960s housing estate. Amongst the views this 'eyesore' will obstruct are the HGVs driving along the main road at the entrance to the estate and a McDonalds (complete with obligatory gangs of teenagers hanging around in the evenings) directly opposite.

They’re only leafleting because they can’t post on Facebook - as the Mobile signal is so bad.

A niche one, but having to overhear drunk businessmen talking to their wives on the phone while on the train.
The conversations tend to give rather too much information.

Dairy Milk, when I last ate it, was indeed drastically different to what it used to be like.

Milka I definitely liked, oh yes! However I have to say my preference for chocolate now is something more like Nomo, the other brand I cannot remember right now. I'm slowly weaning myself off chocolate anything, which is not only a long and slow process but also difficult! I managed it with pizza though, so I have no doubt it will soon happen with chocolate too!

Can't argue with that.

Well I wouldn't describe US chocolate, based on the bars I had in January 2020, as that bad! It wasn't as good as British chocolate, not even close, but it wasn't that bad!

I did like the Canadian Walmart's Great Value mint chocolate on my way back from Toronto in 2018

People who say "Extracting the Michael" rather than "Taking the Mickey".

People with minor authority that let it go to their heads (e.g. the traffic warden I once heard referring to obstructing "their" highway).

The one kind of chocolate I avoid without exception is dark chocolate. Apart from anything else, it has given me stinking headaches whenever I've eaten it. But I wouldn't ban it personally, different horses for different courses and all that. Just not for me.

Personally, I much, much prefer white chocolate for a myriad of reasons, but prime among them is the fact I won't get a stinking headache from eating it.

What about "turning the urine-extraction device up to 11"?

Pets getting old.
This is something I've found myself thinking about quite often for a few months now, given that one of my dogs (Cooper, a cream-coated Labradoodle) turned 11 this past August and the other (Alfie, a smaller, black/grey-coated 'doodle') will turn 9 this December. I'm acutely aware it's a reality I'll have to face more often as time goes on, but I don't think I'll ever be ready for that day or that phonecall. Makes me sick just thinking about it tbh.

'A word in your shell-like' - funny it's always said by people you don't want to hear anything from ever, or see ever again.
