Well, here we go again, another year...

Hopefully this year we aren't going to have any loss of opportunity to get out there and see the new stock waiting on your lists!

Meanwhile, this thread is freshly ex-works and ready to enter service tomorrow.

Ooh I'm the first to post on this! :D

1 more 802/0 to go! :D
Good luck with the last 802/0. I’ve cleared the class and I can tell you, it becomes a lot easier when the rather hefty GWR fleet is done, and I say that living miles from TPE and twenty minutes from the GWML

Wasn't expecting to get so much for South Eastern with the heavily reduced service they were running due to engineering works. 2 more of the DC 378s done, just leaves 378148 to try and locate for a long run (as it's on something stupid like 0.2 miles)

*Dispatcher was yelling something at me and waving his hands as I boarded this one at Stevenage; sadly I had my headphones in so I didn’t hear a word he said! What an odd way of telling me the London train had arrived. :p

Back to Wales (a country where all units are dud) on Friday… sadly my only requirements there, 67s, are not shown on staff or RTT systems so it’s a waiting game.

Yeehaa! All of the GWR 800s and 802s are now done :D <:D  153909 remains on my hitlist, that I see is showing as on Pembroke Dock services today. Bit too far to go there and back to Hereford now, maybe it'll be somewhere more convenient tomorrow!

Doing well there! I need a good session in the North West for the CAF units too, the 195s I'm a long way from done but that was due to focusing on the older stuff. With the 150s and 158s done (the 156s I want I think are all allocated to Heaton, must check that soon) and the 153s all in store to probably never come out in service again, I'll be focusing heavily on the 195s next time I'm in Manchester.

I think I'm also in single figures for the 331/0s, and just 3 769s with Northern to go. You know, all this thinking about red penning in the North West has me really wanting to go to Manchester ASAP...

My last active 153 was showing all day as allocated to the 1602 from Cardiff to Fishguard, as part of a trio of 153s. I decided not to go for it, but then at 1415 I changed my mind and jumped back on the bike (following a challenging ride in the wind) to get to the station in time for the 1438 as far as Cardiff.

Imagine my dismay when, despite the service actually being quadruple 153s, my last one was not actually on it after all :'( Wasted £23.80 on fares, £2.09 on a Tim Hortons Dark Roast (but that was nice!) and £13.25 on a vegan burger and fries at TGI Fridays as a result. Expensive afternoon out, but at least there were some gains out of it!

I was having my meal when the 1816 and the 1825 to Ystrad Mynach and Barry Island respectively left, watch now I'll end up finding out 153909 worked one of those...

Likewise, a good day trip to the Manchester area for me. See if any of my last 3x Northern 769s are floating around, as well as any of my last 3x 397s, before focusing on the trams. Doing what I did in August and setting up a chair at Cornbrook to keep an eye on movements as the run to Deansgate is reasonably fast and over a mile so win-win both ways.

It's how it all used to be before RTT started making getting winners easy. As the stock for that train comes off Canton, it's possible for set swaps to be made from the allocated formation through the day.

Just remember that for every time you get bowled, there will be a payback when you get winner after winner after winner. I'm sure everyone's experienced it: the day when nothing goes to plan, then the day when everything turns to gold.

Oh indeed, it's easy to forget how much harder things used to be. I have been quite fortunate in recent times to have my last 802/0s all fall relatively easily, not quite the way I'd have liked but the last one worked out beautifully. It could be considered that I was getting greedy, and that perhaps I should have stayed in to do the big clean I was meant to be doing!

It worked out OK in the end though, I got a good bit of a walkabout in Cardiff for this month's walking challenge on Strava, found a new 100% vegan restaurant which will get my custom next time I'm in Cardiff (I'd already made reservations at TGI Fridays) and it got me away from covidiots up this way. Let's not go there!

After finishing my walk along the Regents Canal I stayed south of the River and had a social catchup. Another visit to that area is on the cards when there isn't so much engineering works on (and hence more trains out)

I have a nice big list to post here, but I am going to share it after I share the trip report. There's a 5 day trip report coming up, and I still need to proof-read it all yet, which I'm going to start doing on the journey back to Hereford. Need something to do for 70 minutes!

For reasons unknown, I'm not getting notifications for this thread!

Arrgghhh... that's one of only three Zoomy Things that I still need!!! o_O ( The other two being 801 201 and 801 203 ).
I was going to get it back in October as it was working an Aberdeen - London train on a Sunday but it was the day the ECML fell over with the northbound Lumo getting cancelled at Newcastle. (I escaped on the 'relief' they put on around 13;50odd).

I was happy when I saw it allocated to the Inverness train on Saturday morning as it would be my booked train home on the Sunday for the long trip via Cambridge.

Yes, I've been watching it and saw it was on the Chieftain and knew it would be coming back and when, but unable to get out after it...

It wasn't out today, so I have a nasty feeling that tomorrow it'll be doing one multi stop into London from Leeds then escape me on the 10.00 or 12.00. I have a 16.00 ear appointment, so wouldn't be able to pursue it or the other two unless I can pick it up at Stevenage in a rather narrow time slot...
