No more 153s for TFW please, I hope they are just there for a refurb only then back to Northern.
They’re a lot nicer than the 150s! If I had my way, all of the surplus 153s would be used in doubles or pairs to replace all 150s bar services via Pontypridd and the Bidston line where I think only 150s can manage.

It wasn’t a public announcement, but a reply from a member of Northern’s management to a question as to the truth of the rumour. This was promoted by concern over the short forming of trains due to persistent failures of Class 769 sets. There is nothing spare at Newton Heath to be loaned to TfW, but two refurbished 150/2 are going for a loan period from Neville Hill. Identified elsewhere as 150269 and 150270. This arrangement is expected to be until the end of the summer peak but may well be influenced by progress at TfW in getting 230s and 197s into traffic.

I'd take a 150 over a 153 personally, if the 153s need to be used the small ends should be coupled together every time as a rule.
Spending 4hrs in the small ends of 153s is torture for any driver over 5ft, plus the 153s doors and brake release is so slow compared with a 150 or 158.

It's all about personal choice and for me I hate them things.

i do feel for you but also as a customer I'd prefer them to nothing. i rely on the train to get to and from work ect. again they may be for spares lets not jump to any conclusions

I don’t think it ever even entered service; it’s just been sat at Canton since early 2021.

I was about to reply and say I've been on it, but I couldn't find a photo or log of it in my notes. I was thinking of 769421, confirmed by 769426 being on my wants list still. I must have forgot about it :-/

It was never complete as far as I remember. That was the one that was sent with a coach missing as it needed extra corrosion works doing to it. TFW will never get the ninth set now.

Any news on which Class 150 is in for some TLC in Canton?

Also, are the two Class 153 sets (153 918 and 153 982) still in Landore?

Presume the RTT graphic hasn't been updated and it is now in TfW livery?
Well over half of the refurbished 150s are still showing as in Arriva greeny blue, same for a handful of 175s, and despite all servicable 153s being in TfW livery most /9s still show as in EM/GA livery. I have contacted them to let them know of this but received no response.

I suspect that it's the usual scenario: RTT reformats whatever data's passed to them - if the incoming data is incorrect, or hasn't been updated to reflect the latest position, RTT can only display what's being provided to them - ie obsolete info.

The data they receive does not include mini cartoons of the train. That’s RTT’s own invention, though I say this reluctantly, knowing they’re not enormous fans of constructive criticism :)

Ah! I think I saw a tweet from the owner stating he had been away for a few weeks so might be why he hasn't responded.

As @TT-ONR-NRN has pointed out, this is a RTT thing and is not fed from the data feeds. I think I saw that they had hired in someone to create the images so possibly a case that said person hasn't been available to update the images (presuming they weren't added to the RTT payroll)

Following completion of Full PRM conversion works, 153 318 & 153 382 will leave Landore tomorrow for Canton.

That completes a programme of 15 full PRM units (153 3xx including toilet) and 11 PRM Lite (153 9xx)

they look very slick, look forward to them being out in service and helping to alleviate short forms on my local line

I was surprised to see a 150 with two 153's on the Ebbw Vale line yesterday. Thought there were the domain of the 170's.

Is there any update on the Class 150 front?

Last unit reported in was 150 230 which has since completed its refurb apparently.

150280 is currently in. 150230 was released about a week ago. Prior to that 150208 and 150213 have been done.

Latest reports of sightings at Landore are that 153374 plus one unidentified ex-Northern 153 have moved from the yard into the building. Fire-damaged 150279 plus one-half of 150242 have turned up there. Ex-GC Mk4 rake HD06 and the other three ex-Northern 153s also present in the sidings.
