Continuity and other errors in British films/TV

Not so much a continuity error as shockingly poor research:

In the new book "Rip Tide" by Stella Rimmington ( who, given her previous job, you would expect to get the research spot on... ), is the following line:


The train from Birmingham to King's Cross was packed...

Not so much a continuity error as shockingly poor research:

Perhaps it was a diversion as WCML, GWML and MML were closed!!!! ;)

Nah... definitely poor research; further on in the book ( which is set in the current era ) an undercover agent has just been subject to attempted murder by being pushed off the platform at the back of a bus in Birmingham...
