Just to let you know LM have evening peak restrictions out of Birmingham New Street/Moor Street/Snow Hill and a few other stations in the Central Birmingham area. Daytrippers are included in that restriction but not the West Midlands Day Ranger.
FCC I believe have evening restrictions on Off Peak Day Returns too, but I'm not at all familiar with routes, destinations etc on that.
Certainly used to have to buy an Anytime (or whatever it was called in 2005) Day Return in Cardiff to go up the Valleys, don't know whether that still happens.
