    East Coast Timetable Dec 24

How would that work on a two-track line where the average headway between trains needs to be below 5 minutes in order for all of them to fit?

    East Coast Timetable Dec 24

Close Welwyn North and build a cable car alongside the railway to WGC. :D

Countries where rail traffic drives on a different side to road traffic

Same in Austria - everything fully set up for bi-directional operation on all double-track lines.

Countries where rail traffic drives on a different side to road traffic

I believe it is because of the track arrangements exciting Genève Cornavin, so that one track of the mainline (away from Geneva), where left-hand running is in operation, can be shared by trains to Annemasse. And since a large share of Léman Express trains change direction in Annemasse anyway...

Countries where rail traffic drives on a different side to road traffic

Considering tramways, same in Vienna in 1938.

Countries where rail traffic drives on a different side to road traffic

As far as I know, next year (everything around the Semmering is already right-hand running). However, left-hand running will remain on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn from Vienna to Tulln.

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

Believe me, to the current extent they are very much new. I think that ÖBB has said that passenger numbers have increased 40%. Indeed. ;)

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

On the ICE Frankfurt- Vienna and the rjx Budapest - Munich, patronage has - significantly - increased since the pandemic, so I don’t agree that it’s nothing new. On many days, double ICE-T or RJ would be very helpful - it is seasonal though and I am not sure how to find solutions for it. On a...

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

I am not happy about the DB plans, but they do have severe capacity issues and try to do something about it by ordering trains. Also - and I do not now how to solve this - demand really now explodes each and every summer and capacity problems are near universal. Nothing like RENFE, which claim...

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

I have recently noticed on a trip to Spain - on a Seville - Cádiz - journey - that RENFE seems to block off seats until the day of travel: Checking two days and the day before, ALL afternoon return trains except the last one were noted as "fully booked", causing me to book seats on a bus service...

    TGV Driver Announcement

There is someone similar on the Viennese U-Bahn, with a cynical touch and typical Viennese humor. His best saying when passengers block doors: „I don‘t mind - it‘s you who want to get to work on time; I am already working“.

    [FR] LGV Sud-Est closed 9 to 12 November 2024

I understood it to mean that services touching the LGV SE from Belgium will not run; not all Belgium HS services.

    [FR] LGV Sud-Est closed 9 to 12 November 2024

The LGV Sud-Est will be completely closed for modernisation work from 9 to 12 November 2024, apparently including the TGV Rhone-Alpes past Valence. Only about 30% of regular services will run, all diverted over classic lines, leading to very long journey times. The following link has some more...

    Graz-Maribor-Ljubljana [AT SI]

Not even that, there is still a single-track section left around Wildon. however, the decision to double both this and Leibnitz - Spielfeld has finally been taken. High-time too - it is not only a very important freight route, but also by far the most important commuter route into Graz and...

    East Coast Timetable Dec 24

If the ambition is to have direct trains from everywhere to anywhere, it is no wonder that it is difficult to come up with a workable timetable - and I note that the WCML is structured entirely differently. Really, both Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire should connect into Scotland flows via a...
