[Trivia] Unstaffed stations - busiest and largest?

I was a student in Bristol and lived just around the corner from the Clifton Down station. Can't remember ever paying... What's the Statute of Limitations on unpaid tickets?

"HS2 Back on Track" - front page of Sunday Express - private sector plan to build Birmingham to Manchester

Lord Adonis is more optomistic:"HS2 will happen.. just 30 years later than it would have been" https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/business-travel/hs2-will-go-to-manchester-despite-pm-cancelling-line-beyond-birmingham

    Waterloo station masterplan

Go back a few decades and whoever could have guessed that Kings Cross and St Pancras would ever be held up as an example of good station design! Back in the 90s, Waterloo was probably in the best condition of any of the mainline terminus stations but it has been caught up and overtaken by others...

    Waterloo station masterplan

The Sidings never really recovered from Time Out pulling out of their plan to open one of their markets there. I can only imagine that the rents must be very high.

    Cambridge platform changes

No official status as far as I am aware of. Just something that Rail Future has been campaigning for. I believe the the recent works to the east side of the station for the Thameslink lines left passive provision for a eastern entrance.

    Waterloo station masterplan

Inside the station isn't too bad but the areas outside could do with smartening up as it's all very scruffy. I don't think it needs a huge amount spent on it compared to other stations in London more of a refresh. The Hole in the Wall is an institution - I've been drinking in there for over 30...

    Cambridge platform changes

There is supposed to be a southern footbridge as part of the plans for an eventual eastern entrance to the station on Clifton Rd if is ever built. It would also relieve the overcrowding around the main entrance.

    Freiburg v Cambridge

Half an hour is good. Often a lot longer. Sometimes takes over 30 mins just to get out of the carpark.

    Freiburg v Cambridge

Certainly not going to happen when the Council can charge people over £30 a day to park there and there are no other alternatives for getting home if you are going to be at an event until 11pm. To be fair, parking is free after 6pm but that just encourages more people do drive in

    Freiburg v Cambridge

Absolutely. You need a good alternative before people will get out of their cars. When I go to the "Other Place", I find Oxford's P&R and bus network to be much better than in Cambridge.

    Freiburg v Cambridge

I'd certainly make Regent St bus/taxi only from the junction with Gonville Pl. This would allow the pavements to be widened as they often get very overcrowded. Perhaps close most of Trumpington St too. Shutting down the Grand Arcade car park would be a start as it attracts a lot of cars into...

    Freiburg v Cambridge

It's not just Freiburg but there are many similar sized European cities with well developed public transport systems which Cambridge could learn from rather than trying to be so innovative. Just buy something off the shelf which needs as little modification as possible. A sub-surface central...

    London Overground line names announced

I would have been happy with Overground 1 Overground 2 Overground 3 Overground 4 Overground 5 Overground 6

"HS2 Back on Track" - front page of Sunday Express - private sector plan to build Birmingham to Manchester

But increases in other costs due to inflation over the delay period will surely be more.

Labour *Could* reinstate HS2 Northern legs after Government fails to sell off land

Build an expensive and time consuming upgrade and you are only disturbing those already along the route. Build a new cheaper rail or road alignment and you upset a whole new bunch of people.
