it’s a fairly safe bet that standard class passengers and taxpayers will indeed be paying for 1st class refreshments.

When people are arguing about whether it should be 1 or 2 (classes), it's hard to accept that the correct answer is 3!

Trip Report - Wrexham from the north - 2024/04/20

Difficult to see how there wasn't time when the train was still in a different country!

Combined transport authority in the north

The North is a concept developed by those who live and work in the South East honeypot. I remember being told by my bank that as the Liverpool branch had now closed to go to the Newcastle one instead. Bless!

Trip Report - Wrexham from the north - 2024/04/20

Apart from connections to Wrexham, Bidston serves as a park and ride, albeit not as busy as Birkenhead North. It is less bleak inside the waiting room, which to the chagrin of some of this forum, is to my knowledge open when the ticket office is i.e., always.

Whilst this thread is talking about the merits of a single class, Avanti have gone and introduced a three class approach!

Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram pledges to bring "trackless trams" to Liverpool Airport, among other places

Probably a statement about both actually. But a narrative that suggests that Liverpool John Lennon Airport was once big but Manchester Airport is now taking its trade and therefore its future is not at all accurate.

It's not just about consumer rights. It's about having an ethical consumer led mindset.

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

Except it's not a minor problem for customers who have a long journey (3 hours+) and have no food and drink because they were falsely led to believe that it would be available and the TOC has failed.

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

And yet it still says "and complimentary food and drink on most services" elsewhere. Unbelievable

Cumbria Coast Electrification Announcement? (Barrow-Carlisle only)

Indeed. When I Google this I discover it was actually "Tories pledge £500m towards reversing Beeching rail cuts". The point being that this Westminster shower (the Britain breakers, I mean) have previous form for making promises and not following through. So, apart from Okehampton and the...
