    DB 50 hour strike

Dates announced on Thursday morning, with warning that there would be a strike imminently a day or two before.

    Struggling To Plan Journey

Journey planner issues aside, will be direct in both directions, with the Portsmouth portion attaching to a portion from Littlehampton at Worthing. Won't show correctly in most journey planners as requires a lot of manual input in timetable planning systems so often not done for engineering work...

Monday 8th May - SWR No Trains

Monday 8th is a bank holiday so a Saturday service should be in operation - from a data perspective this means cancelling the entire 'normal' Monday timetable and replacing it with new trains that match the Saturday timetable. What will have happened here is the Monday cancellations being...

    Late correction of journey planner

I think the information on National Rail is incorrect - the engineering work has only been cancelled on the Saturday, not the Sunday. The SWR website is correct.

    Same Times, Different Meanings

On Sundays, there is an hourly direct train to Victoria (08:19 - 10:18 as an example), but this is a slow stopping service. At Faversham, it is overtaken by a faster service from Ramsgate (arriving 09:48), and the timetable is set up to allow a cross platform interchange onto the faster service...

    RST - Partner Pass

Yep, it's only the solicitor who needs to see the proofs of address. The completed partner declaration form signed by the solicitor is all RST need.

    RST - Partner Pass

Three bills/statements each that show the same address (can be the same three if the bills have both names, or different). Once the solicitor has stamped/signed, scan a copy of the completed partner declaration form. On the RST website under forms there's one to add a spouse/partner, fill in...

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

The working departure of 9N64 is 13:11:30, and would ordinarily be a public departure of 13:11. In this instance, an offset has been applied to make the public-facing time earlier than the working (i.e. industry) time. Why? At a guess, the GWR runs later this half hour than it normally does...

    Class 710 LO

The problem is from P17 towards Balham. Access to/from Kensington Olympia is fine.

    December 2021 Timetable change

It's been mentioned upthread but since you're searching for good news, in Bristol the Severn Beach line is going to half-hourly which I'm personally very pleased about.

    Southern Services at Portsmouth Harbour

I couldn't tell you why, but a lot of Southern services have been terminating at Southsea in recent timetables. Only one stop along so hopefully not too disruptive for your plans, if a bit inconvenient.

Trivia: Headcode for service of longest duration?

And if interested, per page 74 of the National Timetable Planning Rules, it is 3S71. If there is any other train which beats 19 hours, I imagine it will also be on one of those lists.

    London Bridge - Platform 1

Covid-related staffing difficulties I believe, by running everything through 2 & 3 it saves having to staff platform 1 - that drives the timetable rather than vice versa.

    Kenilworth station signage

I seem to remember reading that it was to do with it being due to open around the time the franchise changed hands (although opening was subsequently delayed). Little point in it being done up in London Midland signage, and I'm not sure the WMR brand was finalised at that stage.

Advice on current conditions on Eurostar

I travelled London/Paris and return over the past two weeks, reasonably busy both ways - I *think* strangers could be booked next to each other but I had a spare seat next to me both ways. I was through the controls at St Pancras in 5 minutes max, I felt like a bit of a fool for having arrived...
