apart from the constant rattle from the glass screens and tables, worn out seats and toilets that are out of order. 165s are much quieter and cleaner. The air conditioning on 165s nearly always works as well (too well judging by some comments on twitter!)
You clearly don't suffer Chiltern. Is weekend leisure traffic 'tiny' now because we can't rely on it? Football, cancel all trains, concert cancel all or some trains. West Coast shut, cancel all trains.
its more reliable to drive to Amersham, Chesham or Chalfont. Princes Risborough car parking...
I would disagree about capacity, the problems are surely of Chilterns own making with failing to maintain their stock or plan stock replacements properly, resulting in shortages. This only reveals how short of stock they are if they have to cut a handful of trains to bolster other services...
But they are used, just slightly less than the others. Same as trains from Aylesbury, they are used but they've been removed anyway.
The Met line is treated with contempt by Chiltern nowadays. Football at Wembley, cancel trains all day. Singalong at Wembley, cancel the evening trains. Get a...
Not much use from Stoke Mandeville, Wendover, or Great Missenden though. I know Chiltern have no rolling stock, they've been under resourced for years. 25% service reduction after covid, with a further 25% reduction on Saturdays to come in May.
They clearly don't want to run anything on the...
But Chiltern can still run via Harrow on the Hill. They've chosen not to. The Met is running as far as Harrow so no reason for Chiltern to bin the entire service for 4 days
The 0758 from Wendover was 6 cars, the 1530 from Marylebone is 5, which is almost 1 per passenger. The incoming train, 1418 from Aylesbury was full though
Interesting to see that the Sat 18th timetable has 3 southbound services from Aylesbury running non-stop from Great Missenden to Marylebone. Not had that for a few years now.
There are corresponding fast workings Northbound in the afternoon
The crossover is passed for passenger trains. Recent engineering work meant a Marylebone to Great Missenden service arriving in to the Northbound platform. They returned to Marylebone from the same platform in passenger service
'minor' in yesterdays case being a 40% drop in capacity in the evening peak due to short forming. This new Wembley plan has only started relatively recently, perhaps as Chiltern are so short of stock?
Chiltern are really in a dire place now, whenever there is a Wembley event the Aylesbury...
Not sure that map is correct, some of those woods in South Bucks and Chilterns are where the tunnel goes underneath (Mantles, Sibleys, pipers) Is this from the early Woodland Trust stuff before the tunnel was introduced?
The Woodland Trust have proved themselves economical with facts, they've...
As a resident of Wendover its never been really explained why the Chiltern long tunnel stops on top of the Chilterns, the line then coming down hill and dropping below ground level for the cut and cover green tunnel for Wendover. Is there any particular reason why this is so? It just gives the...
