Mr Madannie reports seeing Alexander Dennis Dart 34715 (PX05 EKJ) working Carlisle route 69 today. Bus Times seems to agree with him, the bus reappearing in service yesterday (2nd June) after however long out of service. He has photographic evidence although I have not yet seen it.
It has been...
Another cross-city route from my time in the area (1980s) was the 94, which was a rather curious route from Levenshulme to Southern Cemetery. What I can't remember is what route it took through the city centre it took.
Still there in July 2022 last time I went past on the bus, not too far from the top of Dunmail Raise.
The AA website has a history of the call boxes, including a list of all known extant ones:

Back in 1985 I lived on Old Liverpool Road in Warrington for six months and my room had an excellent view of the line from Warrington Arpley to Fiddlers Ferry. Plenty of coal trains back then.
From my current house I can see the Tyne Valley line and in winter I can also see the Settle &...
I have in my collection a 1980 publication called Atlas Tramvaji by Ludvik Losos (& kolektiv), published by Nada.
It is in Czech (apart from a single page in each of English, French and German) and covers all the tramways in what was Czechoslovakia: obviously a large part of this is given over...

Network Rail have issued an update today which suggests that lifting will take place over the weekend, dependent on the weather (it is currently very windy here in Carlisle), and they hope to have the line repaired and re-opened in early December.
(I am a bit grumpy about this as I am busy...
The big crane has, as expected, got a lot bigger today.
Taken at about 4pm, from London Road in Carlisle, so looking the opposite way to yesterday's images:
Image shows the larger of the two cranes at Petteril Bridge Junction on the afternoon of 10th November, now a lot bigger than it was on...
Two cranes on site now, one rather larger than the other.
From some distance away:
Images show the scene at Petteril Bridge Junction in Carlisle on Wednesday 9th November, with the remaining derailed cement tankers and two cranes.
I have several trips written up, but due to my never being satisfied with what I have written nothing has been added here until now. In typical Madannie fashion this is the most recent trip
Last week found myself & Mr Madannie holidaying in Staffordshire, and on Wednesday 21st we...
The Amerton Railway and Apedale Valley Railway have also cancelled services on Sunday 18th: both were part of weekend Galas and we (Mr Madannie & myself) are a bit annoyed as we planned a holiday around these events. One of them is going to miss out on our spending.
At least there are other...
