Old BR ceramic jug - date/history?

Quite possibly! Didn't BR own hotels at some point? Fair point, but the logo is definitely underneath the clear glaze, even if it is a little smudged. Still a bit of a mystery then!

Old BR ceramic jug - date/history?

It's about 14cm tall by 9cm diameter at the base. A milk jug maybe? I was wondering whether the rose pattern was specific to the crockery used on a particular named train?

Old BR ceramic jug - date/history?

Hi all, Found this jug in a charity shop recently - a black rose design on either side and a BR double arrow logo on the bottom. Any ideas when it dates from/where it might have been used? Thanks.

Junction Indicators at Balham & Selhurst

Hmmm... KSW2 table A SO500 only identifies those lines as up/down fast/slow at Selhurst, but follow them back to Clapham Jct and they are identified as up/down fast/slow Brighton. The Southern route pack shows them as up/down fast/slow Brighton. Can't find any reference to up/down Victoria...

The state of our railway embankments

A lot of it has been there for so long, the people who dumped it may well have moved on long ago.

The state of our railway embankments

Yes, very much so unfortunately. NR's contractors did a whole load of tree clearance work recently around Bromley Jct and up through Crystal Palace to West Norwood and it uncovered all sorts of rubbish. Efforts were made though to clear some of it around Gipsy Hill/West Norwood, but there are...

    Complex ECS Movements

It terminates at East Croydon at gone midnight as far as I can remember. It's probably because there's no path straight into the depot as everything else is trying to do the same. Getting back into Selhurst at the end of the evening can take a while which is frustrating when you just want to go...

    Complex ECS Movements

There is a late Southern turn that runs in service to East Croydon. Change ends there, run empty half a mile or so to Windmill Bridge Jct and into Norwood turnback road, change ends again, back to Windmill Bridge and into East Croydon, change ends again, back to Windmill Bridge then up to...

    Network Rail Photo Display

I went to see last year's winners on show in the foyer at the National Theatre. Some really stunning entries. Will be looking out for this year's results.

Southern Trainee Drivers - Victoria & London Bridge

All Norwood (note the spelling!) DIs are Link 1 which means that any trainee at Norwood is likely to spend more time going to and from Milton Keynes than anywhere else as it is only Link 1 who go there.

    Broken 377/3

That sounds a bit unlikely, there's no AC traction system on a 377/3. /2s have two buttons in the cab, AC system select and DC system select, but /3s only have DC system select. It is entirely possible that the driver was talking about the ACM (Auxiliary Converter Module) which powers the...

Beautiful Graphic Symbols That Represent UK’s Major Metro Stations

I never really noticed until I read this thread, but there are some signs at Victoria on the platforms with Queenie's head on them.
