Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Feltham is just stabling IIRC (and maybe tanking?) but no heavy maintenance which will presumably be done at Wimbledon. With hindsight I wonder if Feltham was actually needed at all given how much rolling stock SWR has offloaded post pandemic. Given the very limited mileage these current units...

Monday to Friday for the early part of the day only. Thats the best SWR can do 5 years after they were due to be introduced.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Yes I understand that is the current situation. Anything to stop it from starting/ ending at Feltham instead? Feltham was built for stabling 701's AIUI. Hopefully it won't be an issue for long as the introduction starts to ramp up.... but I'm not holding my breath.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

043 out again this morning, just seen heading towards Windsor. Good that there is now a (semi) peak run but as I've said before it would be good if the diagrams could be tweaked again so it could cover a busier service rather than one after the main peak.

Staines has barriers. Did you not buy any ticket at all, or were you short faring?

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Tongue in cheek I assume as the Reading line has been anything but spolit! A worse timetable and service now than 20 years ago after many years of being promised 4TPH. Not to mention the closures what feels like every weekend... Glad these are entering sergice as the situation is desperate...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Agree - but while all that is going on moving the existing diagram to the morning peak is a quick win. Thanks - I would argue that the 06:53 and 07:23 would be better to 'crowd bust' in the peak but it's a good start.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Two months on and nothing has changed... it must be time to run these in service during the peak to add some much needed capacity. If not replacing an existing diagram then as an extra. The whole fiasco really is depressing. Has anyone been to one of the meet the manager events to give the big...

    British Airways

Thanks - presumably they can use them if they want to! This was an A319.

    British Airways

Turning them off would have been the quick and easy fix. To be clear I'm not that bothered about this. It was irritating but these things happen, although I don't think asking passengers not to film it is a great look. Just thought it may be of interest for this thread. Have managed to...

    British Airways

Had this for about half an hour (of a 90 minute flight) on my BA flight yesterday. Amazing how something so minor can be so incredibly irritating. Rather than fix it the cabin crew just asked passengers to stop filming it  Eventually they just disabled all the screens. EDIT: file is...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

These units are now (apparently) replacing 10 carriage trains on Weybridge and Windsor services. There won't be any 12 carriage formations.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

At the risk of asking a stupid question... why? They are going back to 4 car units (that's progress for you), they haven't received any significant ride height modifications or anything AFAIK, so what is the problem?

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Mixed news if they do enter service in my opinion. Good as SWR are clearly desperately short of units, but it does imply there are more problems with the introduction of the 701's. And ultimately this is just SWR reintroducing the same rolling stock previously used on the line but with a lower...

    SWR Metro fleet permanent withdrawals

It's awful at the moment on the Windsor side. Not sure why SWR think it appropriate to run a staff jolly to Bournemouth using stock that is desperately needed for paying passengers.
