  • Ah yes they're easy to tell apart when you know what to look for ! The easiest way being that on the Bullied units the doors had a seperate window above the droplight which the BR units did not (BR unit doors were the same as those on the Hampshire DEMU's which you may have seen). I've uploaded a pic of a Bullied one at Strood which isn't very good but shows the toplights above the door.

Also, the Bullied design had a slightly more pointy end than the BR one. On my pics, the middle panel on the front of the BR unit at Bromley North is wider compared with the Bullied ones at Grove park.

Sorry for the picture quality (they were taken on a very cheap camera ) but I hope they help :)
I dont know the diffrence between the Bulleid EPBs and the BR design all I could spot was the patterns on the roof were diffrent and thats about it.
    Thanks mate,
Im going to join the EPB preservation group at the EKR,there brilliant loyal Southern Region work horses in my opinion and it would be great to see one up south london.

There quite good and members get to help out with restoring them, and its only £15 a year.

Sorry to keep be a pest but when you visited Grove Park Station, was all the platforms used?

Because these days platforms 3-and-4 are only used aswell as the bromley popper line.
    Regards
Hello mate, I'm not sure what units were on the branch at the end, but I've uploaded a pic I snapped of one when I was there, and also one at Elmers End. They were lovely trains, but the EPB preservation society has restored one in East Kent so maybe it might get back to South London one day!
    Hi mate,
Your a lucky man getting a ride on an EPB,I was only 2 months old when they were withdrawn (or the last one was),I still love 'em though, but the "Networkers" were more of "Notworkers" when they entered setvice in '91-to-'93.

Have you got the numbers of the 2-EPBs that worked te service on the bromley north line up until the last EPB working there?
Cheers mate, those were usually the BR designed 2 EPB's if I remember - they had a really nice refurbishment - a bit tidier on the inside than most. I think the Networkers are pretty good as well - the beginning of an era!
I've only been on this site a couple of days and I've already been told off for reopening old threads :s
    Hi,
thanks for the reply mate, nice to see one of these SR workhorses at Grove Park Station,I back on to the Bromley North line, which was worked by 2-EPBs,these are my second favorite train after the Class 465 "Networker" which replaced them, and they gave the EPBs and extra year by not working!

These days the stations services are dominated by Class 465s,and the accosional class 376 (I hate them 376s !),any thanks for your reply great avatar!
    Regards
