No - you only lose a life if you fail one of the OPC assesments. As you didn't make it to them this time, you haven't lost a life.Evening all
Just had my rejection from the application form stage (didn’t even get to the assessment stage). Has this cost me a life or not?
Such a shame as I thought my application was absolutely bang on! I wonder what the secret it?
Madness! No - you only lose a life if you fail one of the OPC assesments. As you didn't make it to them this time, you haven't lost a life.
Your application may have been bang on, but with 10,000+ applications and counting, it's probably slim margins unfortunately
Thanks MiNi. I’ll certainly keep trying. One day it’ll drop for me!Sorry to hear that pete. Unfortunately as said above there are many, many applicants for any job not just railway jobs in the current climate. Keep going and never give up.
Is there anyone on here that got through?
If so - what’s the secret? Lol
That’s right!Did you apply for the vacancies advertised in July?
From what I've read some who did apply for the July vacancies seemed to have progressed to the assessments stage however there are still quite a few (including myself) waiting to hear back one way or another from the initial questionaire. I too received an email today but this was just another automated 'your application is still under review' email.
It would be positive if that was the case, thank you for that mate!I'm not sure how Acorn are dealing with these, it is very unusual to leave the vacancies up for such a long time.
Unless they're prioritising certain depots (from my understanding on these threads it looks like Cardiff applicants were the first to hear back) then I can only assume they've put the best applications through and a whole lot on the maybe pile until they either get bumped off by better applicants or passed due to being better than later applicants.
Assuming the latter to be the case if you did submit shortly after they were advertised then it must have been a fairly decent application to last this long.
I got taken on as a trainee driver at the age of 50 (with another toc), you've got donkey's years left mate!Feeling disheartened at the moment. I passed all the initial stuff with another TOC at the back end of last year, had my assessment dates and then it got pulled. Now this. I’m 33 so I don’t want to get to the stage where I won’t be taken on as a driver because it’s not worth the investment..
That’s good to know. How long ago was this mate? Is it something that still happens?I got taken on as a trainee driver at the age of 50 (with another toc), you've got donkey's years left mate!
Thanks for the words of encouragement mate, really good of you.2017
There's plenty on here who have done the same as me, keep plugging away mate.
I'm sorry to hear about the paper sift Pete. What I can say is that the maximum age for new drivers is 62 so plenty of time! I would recommend applying for absolutely everything railway relatedThat’s good to know. How long ago was this mate? Is it something that still happens?
