been doing model railways for a long time now but never posted anything, im sort of into the 86/95 ish era give or take and most of my stuff is kit/scratch built or kit bashed, not the best by far but it sort of looks like what its supposed to look like

currently on the go is

thumper (only 1 end so far) which will be in connex - part dc kits part buchmann suburban coach
refurbished bep nse - buchmann with scratch built buffet which isnt quite correct but will do
2 epb nse - replica railways suburban coaches with RR cab ends
3tc?? in connex for some reason  think i got the inspiration from the 1 tc car that made it into a connex rake as the original car got damaged
- made out of all sorts, different chassis/buchmann/mainline bits and bobs with replica railway ends

all far from finished and need work still but still coming along nicely
its a very small selection of my collection  of which ive not touched for years now but it gave me something to do during the lock down

Don’t do yourself down they look excellent.
I love the window bars and pipe work on the roof. They look like they’ve had a lot of work done on them. Excellent stuff.

thanks, hard work indeed! what i meant was they arnt 100% accurate with things like under frames ect but they look good in other areas;)
window bars and roof pipe work are the 2 hardest/fiddliest/time consuming parts but have to be done

doing the roof pipework out of brass wire is enough to put you off doing it again....but ive got the other car to do yet

I know what you mean. I’ve spent a good amount of time making up pipes out of fine wire for the bufferbeams on N gauge locos.
It makes you go a bit cross eyed, but it’s very satisfying once it’s done and that horrible chunky coupling has disappeared...

That’s impressive cutting. Do you spray them?

Looking good! :D I'd never be able to make something like that - the kits are either too expensive or too hard to find!

I've seen quite a few people go back over old projects and really make them something amazing - this is no exception! I'm currently thinking of how to make a Class 210 from a Bratchell Models Class 317.

Really impressive. That thumper unit is wonderful, I reckon it needs a bit of graffiti on it somewhere. :)

thanks for the comments :) think i might have over done it a bit on the epb but it was supposed to represent a vehicle near the end of its life, i took inspiration from a photo online of one with graffiti but it wasnt as dirty

think your right though....might have to add graffiti to some of the others

I did modelling when I was younger. I converted a Hornby 25 to a 24, repainted some locos, after practising on Dinky buses. I put twin power bogies in locos, did some mods and I was quite impressed with what I achieved. Even today my 24 looks good next to its 25 twin.

The problem now is, whilst then I was comparing my work with Traing / Hornby and early Lima products, nowadays you have masterpieces to compare with!

Does that bother you as it would me?

depends what ive got lying around really  i dont really tend to compare my trains, most of my trains look accurate from the body up but in a lot of cases just have standard mk1 underframes, i do do correct underframes if i have the parts but if not then they stay mostly as is with a few mods, even some of the bodies arnt 100% correct but thats all i could do cut and shut wise without going to the next step of using filler ect which i dont often do, i did convert 2 hst power cars to a class 89 though, that was a lit of cutting/shutting/filler work but worth it

Ah yes - I've just seen that bit further up the thread! :) Looks very good; I wouldn't have been able to tell that it was a combination of two HST powercars.
