Just been getting the same email for past few months... Limited spaces available and unfortunately you've not been randomly selected this time buy more course dates will become available next month. The problem we all have is as someone previously me turned b4, there was an existing talent pool from last recruitment campaign so I'd imagine alot of those people have been selected and there's only Limited vacancies so the longer we all wait our chances are getting smaller and smaller so we'll probably be called up on the next recruitment drive. It's a very very long drawn out process but maybe one day our numbers get called
has anyone in this holding pattern had an invite to a medical?

Received the usual monthly update. Assessment dates for September and October have been filled and not been randomly selected this time.

. Does anyone know how many people attend an assessment centre at a time? I thought with restrictions eased, I might be in with a chance now as they could increase the amount attending, but not this time. Also, if they randomly select someone and that person can’t attend, do they allocate that place to someone else? Probably no one can answer my questions but just wondering…

When I went to sit the DFFT there was about 8-10. When I did it with another toc there must have been around 50 but that was just for the paper tests only.
yes on the 11/10 at either Cricklewood or WGC (tbc)

You have made it to the talent pool, that's a great achievement. Now just waiting for an available course which shouldn't take too long considering things are getting back to normal. Soon they will be able to accommodate more trainees on each course. All the best to everyone. Surely worth the wait!!

Done my assessment on July 21st and passed, got my DMI tomorrow but couldn't take time off so lets see how it will go, does anyone know how long interview take as I will be squeezing it in between my lunch break.
Any advice? I read its more relaxed than MMI but I haven't had a job interview for years and already palms sweaty.

That's interesting seeing that there are no vacancies at WGC these days. - And a waiting list of qualified drivers waiting to transfer there.
I'd have thought they'd send you to Hornsey where there's definitely vacancies and no pending qualified transfers.
who knows at the moment, there doesn't appear to be much clarity about which depots are training and when
my advice would depend on if you really, really want the job- like a lot of people on here
if you do, then don't try to squeeze the interview in between your other work commitments. make time so you can carry out the interview without any additional times pressures or distractions, you will find that you perform much better this way.
if you're not particularly bothered about the job, then maybe leave it to someone else who is.

Do you get long for lunch and is the current workplace near to where the interview is. Both my dmi's to become a trainee , took around an hour.
The issue I'm having is this is my third week with my current job and I was looking for a job near 8 months after I got redundant and they are being extremely tough on me.
I don't want to risk what I have right now but I wanted to become a train driver for so long.
I have an hour and a bit I can take, and its a Teams video call so I can park myself into a meeting room, no distractions.

My DMI took just over an hour. The interviewers were very nice and ensured I was comfortable before they started the interview process. However, as Lawtoni has so rightly advised, you need to ensure you make time for the interview. It is not about having a quiet place, you need to be in right mind and be prepared too. The interviewers are used to conducting interviews and they will suss you out in first few minutes of the interview. If you are stressed, rushing and unprepared, they will know it. Unfortunately these behaviour isn't what they expect in their train drivers so it might send wrong signals to your interviewers. Therefore, best you ensure you leave no stone unturned and nail it on first attempt. You have applied for a job that offers one of the best wage packages + you are up against 21k candidates to secure your appointment, make sure you reflect this during your interviews. All the best for tomorrow and hope it goes well!

I'm from a completely different unrelated industry and I was offered the job verbally a month ago after my medical. dec 2020 application

Yes, I had my MMI in mid of July and I passed it.
Was the verbal offer from HR personnel? If yes, you might wish to softly remind the person that you still await their advice on further process, i.e, paperwork to confirm their verbal offer and possible course date etc. This will give you a chance to get an update directly from HR. They do have many applications to process. Therefore, always a good idea to give a quick call or an email for an update.

Judging by whats going through the training school right now, it's Hornsey for GN and Cricklewood for Thameslink
To be honest I can't see that changing much looking at the 'lateral' depot move lists.
