On time through tamworth high level.
323214 now at Doncaster.
Is this just one more 323 to to Doncaster le 8 have gone.
One more to go as per original plan.
Ie 9 in total.
Or could that change still.
Ie maybe more could go.
one more if it’s still going by the original plan but there was a option for 2 more… so we just have to see what happens :D

They are supposed to be 4-car I believe, so it won’t happen for you :)
Phew! Then again, they couldn't possibly ride and rattle worse than the 331s. If you bought a car that rattled and banged so much, you'd take it back under warranty. Not sure why its acceptable for a train. Conversation for another day.... Its quite unnerving going over Hare Park at close to 100mph and the bogies are banging about.

Source(s) please.
Be like the 150 cascade with all but 3 transferred at a later date but with the Wigan north western to lostock jct being electrified will enable the remaining 9 to transfer.
Mostly commented in the Wigan to Bolton electrification thread.

Please do not post things as if they are in fact when they're not. "Talk" is not a confirmed source.

All 26 will now be transferring to northern after this week's electrification announcement
I'm not really sure if all of the 26 Class 323s will be transferred to Northern Trains, I thought that the 17 Class 323s would be transferred to Northern Trains, while the 9 Class 323s will remain with West Midlands Railway or they would be stored away. So will the 26 Class 323s be transferred to Northern then? And when was this week's electrification has been announced? Do you have a proof of it?

The electrification is fact. The future of the remaining nine Class 323s is not confirmed.

Please Northern, keep them away from the Leeds/Doncaster services.
Highly doubt any 323s will go east. There'll be plenty of work for them in Manchester.

What would be the problem with having them on the eastern side anyway? They might not exactly be swish and modern anymore, but they're a lot nicer than the ancient Mk3-based stuff that forms most of Northern's fleet.

The electric lines in Yorkshire run air-conditioned stock (331s and 333s) on them so I doubt any proposals to replace them with trains that lack air-conditioning will go down too well. Otherwise I don't disagree that 323s wouldn't be too out of place on the electric services.

Very strange bit of speculation, this. Surely the four-car Class 331/333 fleet is adequate provision for Leeds electrics?

More than enough. I really don’t know why this 323’s on the east speculation keeps cropping up from time to time

No plans for WMT to keep them, no reason to either with the 730 fleet being bigger.

Well in this case, because of a picture of one at Donny, and a tongue in cheek comment from me about not wanting them over here in West Yorkshire. Nothing serious was meant by it. Its obvious its only at Donny for maintenance.

I've noticed that on the overhauled units, the motors sound much smoother and they whistle again - something which hasn't really happened for a few years. Does anyone know why this is? I was told earlier in the thread that no work was taking place on the motors so I can't work out why they sound so much better than the others.

They might of been overhauled as the bogies were overhaul but I don’t know.

But personally I haven’t notice anything different between a overhaul set and ones which haven’t been done.

It's a full mechanical overhaul if all running gear etc. No internal work undertaken. Other maybe able to confirm what level C?

You can hear what I'm talking about in this video:-
Go to 32:39 for the non overhauled 323 and 33:23 for the overhauled unit.
You should be able to hear the whistle and smoother motors on 323222

Difference is very slight. I think there is an element of confirmation bias at play here.
