No, the opposite. The ex Greater Anglia sets have class 170 PIS systems installed at the moment. Both Northern and EMR are standardising on TrainFX eventually, unfortunately.
The ex-G/A units have the BTROS equipment fitted. This is denoted by the 156/9 suffix (this helps traincrew know which system is fitted). When they are changed out to TrainFX equipment they lose the /9 suffix and revert back to /4 units.

156402 (was 902) has been completed now at Wolverton and should be output in Northern base livery with EMR branding, possibly next week.

Nothing to do with traincrew and everything to do with control, it's quite obvious to me which is which

Has another 156 moved today Wednesday 06th October 2021.
On the 590v 1052 wolverton centre sidings to Neville Hill Depot in Leeds.
2. Is this now fully with northern please.
3. Will some be maintained serviced at Neville Hill.
4. Will they work out off Leeds in the coming weeks.
Maybe to end the class 153 across Calder valley services very soon.
Ie northern 156 ex emr 156.
Many thanks iff anyone has any information on this subject.

156s haven’t been allocated to Neville hill for years now, that could potentially but I doubt it as I don’t think many Leeds drivers sign them

No 156’s will be working out of Leeds for the foreseeable. It looks like 2x2 car and 3 car 158’s on the Leeds - Wigan services from December when the 153’s are released.

Is there any chance of the 156s from EMR freeing up 158s on other duties outside Leeds and allowing some to be split and sandwiched as 3 cars like they did with 150003-006? Are Leeds - Wigan and Leeds - Carlisle the only services where 3 car 158s run?

Leeds to Carlisle also sees 3 car 158s

No plans for that.

Not that I'm aware of (although Arriva did initially plan a fleet of 3-car 150s greater than what we ended up with).

The fair assumption is that those diagrams currently strengthened to 3-car with a 153 will become 4-car, but with 158s freed up by the incoming 156s, rather than directly.

Leeds - Morecambe also gets them.

I saw a 3 car 158 at York in the April, but it was not in service. Haven't been since.

Are anymore of the 156/9s being painted into northern colours and going back to /4s or is 402 just a one off til they actually transfer to northern?

Some of the 156s are planned to do the Rochdale - Clitheroe circuit, with the 3 car 150s heading east onto the Huddersfield - Sheffield line. This will probably push the 2 car 150s currently doing this run about to free up 158s among other unit types, so who knows what will happen further down the reshuffle!

Huddersfield to Sheffield was planned for 3-car 150s under the original Arriva franchise, hence the platforms being extended to accommodate 90m formations. It requires 3 units to operate the standard hourly service (plus one extra unit for the teatime peak ex-HUD). As there are six 3-car units at present (the two prototypes and four "hybrid" units) where else would be likely to see these units? IIRC Knottingleys and Leeds-Sheffield via Casvegas were the original routes alongside Penistone that were earmarked for 3-car 150s.

It’s only the hybrid 150/0’s (003-006) that will be used on the Penistone line. 150001 & 2 are staying in the north west.

4 dedicated units for a service pattern which requires four diagrams? What could possibly go wrong there?
Seems a bit daft to me, but what do I know?

Spent about 5 minutes on Nottingham platform 7 looking towards 156402 before I realised it was in Northern colours

Ah, Northern will be pleased - It'll come Pre-Weathered for them!

It looks like 402 has received a new cab roof too.
No, the cab canopy is removed whilst they are in Wolverton and painted. It contrasts with the main roof as this has only been painted in patches.
