Hull station was a shambles on Saturday with numerous consecutive services cancelled on some routes seemingly with little attempt to spread the disruption between routes.
Interesting to see the website say they have a driver shortage due to a lack of recruitment, not just sickness. Clearly struggling to keep staff. Funnily enough I heard a couple of drivers in Beverley the other day complaining how bad things have got since GNE took over. Sad to see how the service ethos has gone out of the window.
Unless companies are able to conduct there own theory/practical tests etc, then it is many months before you can get available test slots through the official channels. That is on top of the time to get provisional entitlement on licences.
The pipeline of new trainees has essentially been turned off for many operators, so only PCV holders can be quickly recruited, and they are in very short supply, and in high demand, ...and not just by the bus industry.

East Yorkshire does have a driving test examiner, the problem has been people getting provisional licences, though the fact a lot of drivers have left over the last few months hasn't helped either, in some cases drivers with 20+ years service.

Changes to the Scarborough town routes from the 31st October. Also Coaster's 12/13 will revert to the winter timetable as well as the Park and Ride finishing for the winter. It appears the 109 has already finished for the year which I think is earlier than normal?

Scarborough town buses

1 week ago Mon 4th Oct 2021

From Sunday 31 October routes and times change on all town buses (except Services 7/7A, will remain unchanged).
  • Service 1

Service 1 will be replaced by a new route for Service 10. This will give a direct link to Scarborough Hospital for residents of Eastfield and Cayton, and will also give Cayton a regular Sunday service. See below for more information on new Service 10.
  • Services 8/8A

Services 8/8A will be replaced by Service 8, which will run in one direction (anti-clockwise), running every 30 minutes.
Buses will run from the town centre along Falsgrave Road, then part of Scalby Road before running a loop around Manor Road, Woodland Ravine, Barrowcliff Road, Colescliffe Road, Wreyfield Drive, Briercliffe and back to Scalby Road and the town centre. The service will then provide a link between the town centre and the seafront.
Northstead will now be served by new Service 11 (see details below).
See the map for the new Service 8. (Click the map legend to toggle between different Scarborough services)
See the new Service 8 Monday-Friday timetable.
See the new Service 8 Saturday timetable.
See the new Service 8 Sunday timetable.
  • Services 9/9A

These services are now replaced by new routes for Services 10 & 11 (see below).
  • Service 10

Service 10 has a new route, combining parts of current Services 1, 9/9A & 10.
This will give a direct link to Scarborough Hospital for residents of Eastfield and Cayton, and will also give Cayton a regular Sunday service. Buses will also be doubled in frequency from Cayton compared to Service 1, from hourly to half hourly.
Buses will run from Cayton, Eastfield and Middle Deepdale up into Scarborough Town Centre via Holbeck Hill, then will continue along Falsgrave Road and up Scalby Road into the hospital grounds stopping by the main entrance, then continuing up Scalby Road to do the loop around Scalby.
Hovingham Drive and Woodlands Cemetery will no longer be served.
See the map for the new Service 10. (Click the map legend to toggle between different Scarborough services)

  • Service 11

Service 11 has a new route, with buses going from the town centre up Dean Road, Glen Bridge, Northstead Manor Drive, North Leas Avenue and Newlands Park Drive along Cross Lane, and then up to Sea Life via Scalby Mills Road.
Prospect Road, Coldyhill Lane and the Moor Lane/Newby loop will no longer be served. Colescliffe Road will now be served by Service 8.
See the map for the new Service 11. (Click the map legend to toggle between different Scarborough services)

719 soon to be repainted? Not been on the road in over 2 months now
Possibly although there are a number of other buses which are in need of doing as well, in particular 271-3/5 which haven't been painted since 2014 and the rest of the 727-46 batch.

Presumably that means 363/4/5/6 will get the same treatment. Although they would still need double-deckers to operate the 937 and BC3, which then resumed roles on the Hornsea corridor (unless these get changed).
366 now in for refurb also. Which may mean they’re all off for Hornsea/EastRider branding

I have wondered that myself. Word was that 367/8 were meant to be joining 361/2 on that corridor but that appears to have changed.

747 and 361 are currently in paint shop with 719 in body shop. 367/8 have transferred to Go North East, although they are currently at Scarborough.

365 next to go in for interior refreshment work.

I do wish that they would do 904 and 908 to match the rest of the old hybrids.

I agree 904 and 908 need doing, they will be at some point, there's also the rest of the 08 Geminis that really need doing as well as 271-3/5, although rumour has it there might be an order placed next year for between 10 and 15 new saloons, which if true will probably see off the E300s and some of the oldest E200s.

I don't know, 904 and 908 still have some groove about them. I think like Eyersey468 said, the 08 Geminis are in need the most. And the 07 Geminis.
Most of the 07 Geminis have been done, 714 will be one of the last to get the new colours with being the last to be painted in burgundy and cream.

And the MCV eVoSetis need a bit of a new splash of paint.
Yes the 67 plates are due to be done as well along with the last midi in the old colours.

One update I would have preferred not to have given, sadly East Yorkshire Coaches driver Paul Rose died in hospital last night. RIP Paul you will be missed.
