i bought a lima mk2 to flush glaze, as i had some hornby ones that had already been flush glazed and bought some finecast flush glazing to use on the lima one

but on further inspection the hornby and lima coaches have different sized window apertures, the lima ones having a smaller size, but it looks like southeast fine cast assumes "all mk2 windows are the same size" as the pack ive bought that says for lima on, the windows themselves are for the bigger hornby windows

people say to enlarge the lima ones to fit the glazing, but the glazing is much bigger to the point you would have to enlarge the aperture so much you would loose the window frame detail on the outside thats how much bigger the glazing is so i wouldnt personally go down that route, not as most people say, enlarge them only a little bit

so my question is does anyone actually sell the correct smaller frame flush glazing for the lima mk2, not the bigger for the hornby mk2?

ive even tried to cut the windows into individual pains but again the windows are to long to fit in the aperture and cutting the windows down diddnt really work either

I remember doing this to Lima mk1s (I’ve still got one somewhere).
There’s a very useful thread on the subject on rmweb here that might help you with what to order and how to go about it:

it says the following in that thread....

"
The only flush glazing I have come across is the SE finecast stuff. They do it for the Lima Mk2 non air con too.

It isn’t plug and play - you need to file out each window aperture slightly to get it to fit"

says it all really, as said you have to do more that file it out a little bit as suggested, you would have to completely re model the frame

i think ive heard of lazer glaze but never heard much about their products, most companies seem to sell a one size fits all product which it dosnt

also again like most small websites, dosnt say a price unless you go on their price catalouge and you probably cant pay by card either, probably only paypal or over the phone as is with most companies

Yes my local model shop used to stock the ones with the yellow packaging and I remember buying them years ago!
I haven’t had time to look into it properly but does one of the routes suggested mean cutting the entire windows out and replacing them with etched brass stuff?

thanks for the replies

i suppose you could cut the whole window out and fit an etched frame, but again depends if the etched frame fits after youve enlarged the window opening for the glazing, and if the glazing fits the top lights/frame of the etching, then you would have to repaint the frames, which i was sort of trying to avoid Any repainting but i guess thats modelling.....

i only bought this lima coach as its a mk2 micro buffet one

and they dont do this particular body style in an older hornby coaches
