Part of the viaduct at Nine Elms has collapsed.

Slightly concerning the speed at which they denied it only to then be proven wrong... Wonder why they jumped to conclusions?

    Trivia: Your favourite bus station

Munich ZOB I quite like, and the updated Hard Interchange in Portsmouth is nice - much better than the poor excuse it used to be.

    Trivia: Worst Bus Station

Doncaster (IIRC), a huge space wasted, and always dark and gloomy! Paris Gallieni was poor too if my memory is holding up

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Oddly, the Worthing one has just been downsized in the way that you're talking about Bournemouth. Upstairs being closed and converted to flats, and then part of the large ground floor has been turned into smaller standalone shops and rented out. Clearly hasn't worked here as it's still closing ‍♂️

    Pushchairs on trains

Having a young child (1yr) I will often leave her in the pushchair, if for no other reason than the fact there's so much stuff to carry (as well and her and the pushchair) if, for example, we're going away for a weekend. Obviously if we end up in a wheelchair space, I would instantly move to get...

Class 442s - Now at the end of the road and to be withdrawn permanently

Surely with trying to increase capacity all the time on the SWR network these must only be being thought of as a stop gap? Longer dwell times and passenger difficulty really isn't going to help, especially in the peaks. I'd love to know how these pass the step-up test and pass PRM when other...

Class 442s - Now at the end of the road and to be withdrawn permanently

Almost went on one today, had been looking forward to experiencing the Forums' "Solution to All Our Problems" class :D:lol:. But the step-up and narrow doors really put me off. I had my daughter in her pushchair, and honestly didn't want to risk it. I know that staff could've helped, but I don't...

[Trivia] Doors Opening At Same Side At All Stations (For Each TOC)

I'd like to put forward the southern Brighton-Ore service, suggesting doors always open on the left side of the train - in the direction of travel. As it reverses at Eastbourne, it's not technically the same "side" of the train itself, but is the same side in the direction of travel... Failing...

Future of Newhaven Marine and Harbour Stations?

I was on this too, and didn't quite understand why we could get off when I thought that there was H&S issues with the station.

    Ticket Splitting - Buses?

Thanks all, at least if it's possible I can ask and not feel like an idiot doing so. Hopefully all should be well if it's as easy as you say Robk23oxf

    Ticket Splitting - Buses?

So, with the railways we can ticket split, but I wondered if anyone knows whether the same can be done for buses? I have a Stagecoach Worthing Area ticket, and as this runs to the outskirts of Shoreham, I was wondering whether I'd be allowed to use this to it's limit, then purchase a return...

Poll: Potential General Election: who are you voting for?

Both. Have had many an argument with other Torys, and then also by people I know/who know me that aren't Tory. This seems to be the answer for a lot of people. Gotta be a reason Lib Dem membership is at an all time high. Then again, LD has always been the "protest vote" party of choice for...

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

Who needs to jump barriers when they're just open? Jump on at High Brooms, no barriers, no one checks your ticket on the train, jump off at Bridge and the barriers are open - free transport to your Friday/Saturday night on the town in the big city...

Poll: Potential General Election: who are you voting for?

Flip side of the coin, I'm considered by many as "too left wing" to be Tory, despite being a member and supporting a lot of their policies, because I believe in the NHS and the benefits system (no, I know it's not perfect, but it's necessary) etc. Would be nice for there to be a better central...

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

It's not just the inner-London services. On a lot of the lines in Kent people just don't travel with tickets. They know which stations are gated and when, and avoid as they see fit. The guards seem to stay away - which I can understand, as a passenger I don't feel safe a lot of the time, and...

    People Mis-Naming Railway Station/Companies - Habit?

Oddly, I refer to it as Meridian, and I'm only 20 (no idea when it was in or out of use...).

Trivia: Lines/stations planned but never built or built but never opened

I read in a very old book that one of the pre-grouping companies (LBSCR IIRC) was planning a more "direct" line to Worthing, through Washington and Findon but can't seem to find anything about it now...

    People Mis-Naming Railway Station/Companies - Habit?

Am I correct in thinking that Hull Paragon Interchange is actually the name though? Covers rail, bus and coach I thought.

    ECML/MML major power problems (09/08)

Don't we (supposedly) have a Strategic Steam Reserve somewhere for exactly this kind of scenario?
