Is the leccy supply to the railway 'just enough'?

And they've been working on improving the supply for years as well. But it takes time - you can't just plonk down a multi-megawatt substation and expect it to be connected straightaway.

Is the leccy supply to the railway 'just enough'?

As always, they buy as much spare capacity as they can, keeping in mind that the budget is often not quite enough for what they're being asked to do.

Well, 16 minus 5 isn't 16 so it sounds like something's wrong with the data feed.

Prince Andrew and the secret sealed document

Officially, yes. However it's well known that in private most PMs have more often taken her advice than ignored it.

People also believe the Earth is flat. They can also be safely ignored.

    Bridges and Speed restrictions

As others have pointed out, a dynamic load and a static load of the same magnitude can have massively different effects on a structure. As a crude analogy, would you rather stand still wearing a 25kg backpack, or have a 25kg child jumping on and off your back? It would be easier to hold the...

Prince Andrew and the secret sealed document

I think it's highly likely that the monarchs had no idea at all what was going on, given their distance from the decisions (both in terms of layers of government and geographic separation).

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

For a single power car, yes it can be. For one thing it would be limited to the speed it can run (60mph?) unless there were also some carriages. Fitting that in on the 125mph ECML might be more trouble than it's worth.

Energy bills to rise - how much is yours going up by?

Not got any comment on energy prices (as yet) but wanted to point out: Nope. Not even close to a GDPR breach - transfer of a customer allows transfer of all relevant information about that customer. There's hardly anything more relevant than payment information!

Is sarcasm a form of bullying?

Indeed, sarcasm can be dickish but to the OP's question it's not in itself bullying. In your scenario she definitely was being a terrible human being and had she, for example, come back later to have another go then that would be bullying.

Prince Andrew and the secret sealed document

Remember though that this is a civil, rather than criminal case. As such the standard of evidence isn't "beyond a reasonable doubt" but rather "a preponderance of evidence". In order to win they just need to tell a more convincing narrative than Edward's legal team can manage.

I suppose back in the day they had porters, I wonder whose job description those responsibilities were transferred to.

Prince Andrew and the secret sealed document

As I understand it, because the basis of the civil suit is criminal activity that is alleged to have happened in the London, the Met had an obligation to determine if there was enough evidence to support a criminal complaint in this country. But that's about all. Had there been strong evidence...

It's not a massive amount of additional overhead. If Megabus can handle bags under the bus then there's no reason that CS can't do bags in the guard's 'van'.
