Could we see a return to "essential travel only" messaging?

Agreed (although if this study is to be believed, are masks actually proven to work?)

Should we go back into lockdown at this point?

Precisely. The question I want to know is, are they delusional like the rest of the public, or do they know but are afraid of the consequences?

Seriously??? If they refuse to take it? This is utterly ridiculous. All this over something that might not even work

Agreed, Tesco has been the most rational and sensible throughout this. I doubt they will change their stance on masks. I don't think any supermarket should be doing what Asda is now proposing to do and I fully hope it backfires. Our university accommodation has a system where students are...

Should we go back into lockdown at this point?

Sturgeon again emphasising that elimination is the only way out of this in her briefing today. She's said the measures introduced yesterday are hopefully enough to start suppressing the virus and getting it down to this level, but if a full lockdown is required to achieve elimination, then that...

What I want to know is, now this mandation is around 3 months old, why are there STILL staff asking people endlessly for 'exemption certificates', 'exemption cards' or 'doctor's letters', it's just not right at all and those who have a genuine exemption should not be facing this type of treatment.

the most over the top restrictions introduced

No, I genuinely mean 3 metres, the management decided it was safer and it would contribute towards the national elimination strategy in Scotland (Which I disagree with in principle, but that's not for this thread). It means the maximum we can have in a room is around 4-5 and means basically...

the most over the top restrictions introduced

My university is working on the basis of: Mandated Masks 3m Social Distancing Deep Cleaning Every Room After Use Seems just a little overkill.

    Worst UK train?

I must admit, after slagging off the 156’s for years, I took one on the WHL yesterday for 2+ hours each way and I must admit the ride wasn’t actually that bad. Very good all round window view, enough room, comfy enough. I think my least favourire Train at the minute would be the Scotrail 320’s...

Should we go back into lockdown at this point?

It does seem that everyone thinks we must continue to suppress this virus permanently, and I imagine the greater public view is that we must do so until a vaccine. There are many concerns about putting so much money and effort into such a strategy, but nobody seems to even consider them. For...

Because there's no evidence they actually work, they are essentially germ-ridden pieces of cloth which can be disgustingly unhygienic if worn for long periods of time, they can be uncomfortable and they are being used to pander to people who we do not believe should be pandered too. They are...

Further Restrictions Announced by Johnson (22/09)

Yeah I agree with that, it did seem a little like a threat. Not that I agree with it or that it would change my view on anything.

Further Restrictions Announced by Johnson (22/09)

What did everyone think of the speech? Must admit, I find it funny how it's not at all 'realistic' to expect the vulnerable/elderly to isolate/shield whilst we pursue herd immunity, but he does find it 'realistic' and 'possible' that everyone might have to do that if the numbers get too high.

Nor should we have had one, and we absolutely should not have another one.

It’s horrendous isn’t it, the way they act. No wonder people are put off travelling by rail if this is the type of atmosphere they’ve come to expect. I had a mask check today on a WHL train. Was told “no eating”, which will be going in to Scotrail as a complaint. I said it was a legal exemption...

Have your tickets been checked on your journey?

Got a ticket check on my WHL Queen Street - Tyndrum outbound service today, although I think this was more to make sure people were sitting in the right part of the train than for revenue protection.

Should we go back into lockdown at this point?

Nicola Sturgeon said today that the idea of a 2-week “circuit breaker“ full lockdown is being seriously considered in Scotland, and advised us that the October holidays this year should be used to allow us to minimise our social contact and to not go overseas unless absolutely essential...

Wales: 'Essential travel only' message returns

Disappointing to see, but Wales was always quite considerably stricter than the other UK nations. I expected it to return in Scotland today, but instead it was simply “essential international travel only”, and it remains guidance.
