    Norse Atlantic: experiences and opinions?

I flew with them from Gatwick to Oslo last year, so it wasn't the full long-haul service, but even so my impression from that short flight was that it is very distinctly a low-cost operation.

    Railway expansion projects in Switzerland

All the old trains on the BLM Mürrenbahn are being replaced with new low-floor trains later this year, and I would expect that route through Isenfluh will be the way for the new stock to arrive. I'm not sure if the old trains will be removed by the same route, or whether they might be dismantled...

    Stansted Airport Transit System

Yes, the illustration shows new double-deck walkways to satellites 1 and 2 for segregated inbound and outbound passengers so the need for the transit is obviated. The illustration shows nothing of the current transit track beyond the terminal building to the maintenance shed and there's nowhere...

    Christmas Eve Final Trains

Possibly the 1839 from Galashiels with an 1842 arrival at Tweedbank, origin 1744 from Edinburgh?

    Luton Airport redevelopment

Because of the scale of the development, and its regional and national importance, the planning application and representations made will be assessed and decided by the national Planning Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of State rather than by Luton Borough Council.

    Vertical integration? or separation?

It looks like this might be a special case because of the nature of the line - it appears to be something akin to a cross between the Heart of Wales, Inlandsbanen in Sweden and the Little Yellow Train route in south west France. I can understand why the operator would find it difficult to...

Ticket types likely to die off soon

I think the main problem is that accompanying adults and children also receive the discount on a paper ticket bought with a Network Railcard - I'm not sure there's an easy way around this even with the new Oyster backend processing system.

    Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller Programme

An update on the original question - good news, there's a 12 month extension on the validity of these tickets being put in place shortly. I've just received an email from Eurotunnel: "If you have purchased Frequent Traveller tickets, you will automatically be given 12 months extension to their...

    Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller Programme

Different companies involved - the OP is talking about the Eurotunnel vehicle shuttles between Folkestone and Calais, not the Eurostar high speed passenger trains.

Rail-ferry connections - present and future

Related to this, if I don't hold a through rail-sea-rail ticket, do the (presumably now) RET ticket machines at Hoek station sell a through ticket using the metro and NS to Delft?

    Berlin VBB tickets purchase place

Yellow ticket machines are run by the BVG (underground, bus and tram operator) rather than the VBB (which organises the fare system across Berlin and Brandenburg). The S-Bahn is a separate company, arm's length from DB, but still using DB red ticket machines. The yellow ticket machines at Berlin...

Recommendations for an easy food and drink excursion from Eindhoven

Another vote from me for Den Bosch - although just about anywhere in the Netherlands seems to be worth visiting and has good food and drink! Bitterballen are a Dutch speciality and are a rather good snack to go with a nice Belgian beer.

    Greater Anglia in financial negotiations

I believe Mitsui bought into the franchise after award (in a similar way to Stagecoach with VTWC), so probably agreed financial terms to this effect with Abellio/NS.

LO specials for Ride London - 29 July

There's a single track tunnel between Colindale and Hendon Central, and one south of Oakwood either side of and including Southgate station - bikes are not allowed in these.

    Eurotunnel problems 27 July

Also bear in mind that the heat given off by transported vehicles adds significantly to the ambient air heat that has to be removed by the air con in the carriages. At this time of year (school summer holidays) you'll have more people doing longer journeys on the roads to get to the tunnel...

Prague has one, in the Old Town Square.

Class 313s at Liverpool Street, 1994

The 313s were used for around 12-18 months IIRC, on the Enfield, Cheshunt and Chingford services that are now part of the Overground. I believe this was to allow withdrawal of the last of the slam-door Class 305 units.
