    ZEBRA 2 Discussion

The 21 is getting a full allocation of EVs via the Levelling Up fund. The fact the X46 is rural is the whole point of it being included in the bid, there was £25-40 million ringfenced for rural bids, the rural definition based off a number of factors.

    ZEBRA 2 Discussion

I've been going through the ZEBRA2 winners and finding out a bit more details about what the bids involve: North West Liverpool City Region Combined Authority - £9.4m in ZEBRA grant and £22m of authority funding for 58 double deck EVs for routes 14, 17, 19 and 20/21 - to be based at Gillmoss...

It's also designed to pump prime private investment into ZEBs and bring them to scale. Hopefully, we are closer to having commercially-funded ZEBs on a more widespread basis as ZEBRA can't go on for ever, as good a scheme it is. I expect there will be a round 3 and then the curtain will be called.

Wouldn't those 58 be the double deck ones being directly bought by Liverpool City Region for Gillmoss? And in the meantime (until franchising) operated by Stagecoach

    TfGM Tranche 3 speculation

Comfort Delgro springs to mind. They've had people working on a TfGM bid. Their TfL services are run to a good standard I've always found, so if so it bodes well for the people of South GM.

    Warrington's Own Buses

The rationale is that with yellow publicly-owned buses being introduced in Liverpool and Manchester, that surround Warrington, Warrington should also have yellow publicly-run buses to blend in with the two cities and have some sort of integrated feel.

Bee Network Tranche 3 - potential fleet involved

Subject to business case and manufacturing capacity etc, there is nothing to stop widescale fleet investment from Go-Ahead into both London and Manchester realistically. There are 94 new electric buses planned for the next 2 years for both tranche 1 (Vantage I believe) and 2 depots, using...

I don't think it's cheeky at all. The inevitable shift is towards zero emission operation for buses but they remain unviable commercially in 99% of instances. For more and more places in the last few years, new bus purchase in general has become unviable. Let's not forget any ZEBRA bid still...

I'm not too familiar with the area - but that's what the bid seems to mention! 24 buses overall and 5 open-tops specified. The redacted costs seem to give off the impression of that quantity too. https://www.itravelyork.info/downloads/file/95/zero-emission-bus-regional-areas-2-application-form...

That's interesting, I'd only heard of the 65 EVs for Stagecoach so far. That would be quite some investment for Doncaster if so! I'm interested to see whether either would be bought by the operator, or given the preference for franchising, bought by the authority and leased to the operator.
