'Neasden Nonsense' 1001 Tour - Cancelled?

It doesn't really matter, and I did say I was just curious, but part (only part) of the raison d'etre of RTT was to allow enthusiasts to know where interesting workings might be and when. There is no problem here, it is just unusual for the timings to be so late. 1713550553 Yes, of course - it...

'Neasden Nonsense' 1001 Tour - Cancelled?

Thanks. I have never known a tour's timings (which wasn't headed by 'Flying Scotsman') to be released this late (still not up now).

'Neasden Nonsense' 1001 Tour - Cancelled?

Just curious - there was supposed to be a railtour with Hastings diesel 1001 tomorrow ('Neasden Nonsense') around north-west London and beyond, run by UKRT. The tour is still on their web site but I can't find anything on RTT. Has it been cancelled?

    Themed graffiti

Yes, and I imagine he/she is, sadly, an industry 'insider' given the moniker used and the apparent knowledge of access points, etc. 1713202060 Yes, but approved and legal adverts are a world apart from illegal vandalism.

    Unusual sign at Littlehampton

Or even Ongar... I think it's fine to have blankings to update signs, but to leave them wrong is poor. The Marylebone one is particularly rare, as LU is hot on updating signage.

Fully reserved trains with unreserved seats

Abysmal information, as is becoming the norm on today's railway, where so much stuff seems to have been cobbled together by semi-illiterates.

    Landslips

This picture from the BBC News web site amused me, because it looks as though the 'T' board beyond is the end of a speed restriction for trains being allowed over the track! Of course it pre-dates the slip, but the positioning and timing amused me. Photo of a severely dipped (and clearly...

    Cycle Bag Searching at Stations

Very simply (in my opinion), if one views cycle panniers as unattended bags, then searches are completely valid. I imagine no-one leaves anything valuable in them, so theft is a very low risk. I think this thread has escalated from a simple question to one step away from 'that's how the Nazis...

    Island Line Class 484 Reliability

    Thanks, and agreed.

    Island Line Class 484 Reliability

Have GWR actually bought them outright or are they just leasing them from one of the ROSCOs? 1712673322 It does beg the question - can ANY stock these days simply be transferred/modified without problems occurring? It seems to be virtually impossible to re-purpose stock without encountering...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

You are right there, but I think the difference here is that the TOC (WCRC) repeatedly committed exactly the same offences (while promising not to), rather than the different ones on Merseyrail.

    Double third rail query

Short sections with juice rails both sides are not uncommon, although this is a shade longer. It certainly wouldn't provide any extra power, as the voltage will be near enough the same, and that's what dictates power. It also shouldn't matter whether there has been a dead section just before...

How common are dividing trains in the UK?

Yep - my question is: "have the visitors been?"! :D

How common are dividing trains in the UK?

No, I thought it was another one on the topic. Ah well, I'll post again in a few months! Thanks for pointing it out.

How common are dividing trains in the UK?

Less common than it was, and, depending on which TOC it is, they might 'divide', 'spilt', 'separate' or some other term, en route, rather than having a sensible single national term for it. I used to commute via Redhill and one of my regular runs was on a three-way divider there - to Tonbridge...

Dangerous Goods Train Derailment At West Ealing 05/04/24

Good information about the discharged status still being dangerous - thanks.

Dangerous Goods Train Derailment At West Ealing 05/04/24

Yes, it is - three wheels derailing would be quite a sight! 1712342967 Who described it as a "dangerous goods train"? If it was empty tanks as mentioned up-thread, it isn't dangerous (at least in terms of its cargo).

Network Rail hopes staff will be 'amateur meteorologists'

A lot of OHLE seems prone to failure, but I was thinking especially of signalling, when semaphores were robust and mechanical - essentially, the more equipment is controlled by electronics, the more delicate it becomes. Of course, I'm obviously not saying everything should be mechanical, but...
