Northumberland Line to be re-opened to passengers

Can confirm that the purpose of said drivers' walkway is for maintenance trains (think tampers, test trains, RHTTs etc.) which are otherwise too long to fit in the bay. From what I can tell, only 950001 and an MPV would likely be able to squeeze in.

WCML Power Supply & Auto Transformer Upgrade

As I suspected. Did the Harker underground cable require planning permission? Not being completely au fait with planning laws, I don't know if a buried cable would have been outwith the requirement for a planning application.

WCML Power Supply & Auto Transformer Upgrade

I don't know about less 350s, but the additional service into Lime St would be throughout the day, rather than just the peaks. Edit: I've also looked on South Ribble BC's Planning portal and have found...nothing. My guess is that any development of a new AT Feeder at Penwortham as others have...

WCML Power Supply & Auto Transformer Upgrade

Any news on further phases of WCPSU going into CP7? The 805/807 thread has reported that the Lime Street services might have to be 805s (on diesel beyond Crewe) rather than the original plan of 807s owing to the power supply being inadequate.

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

I'm sure other OLE-minded folk can divulge more details here, but as far as I can recall: The new connection at Frodsham is live The new ATFS at Crewe (situated nr the existing on on the Manchester lines) was built but remains un-commissioned and mothballed All the AT sites between Crewe &...

Wigan-Bolton electrification. Construction updates only please

Basically - there's very little difference between UKMS & Series 2 (which is what NWEP used).

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

And they just keep coming! Northallerton TSC has now entered service. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/real-power-supply-upgrade_powersupplyupgrade-ecml-collaboration-activity-7184566260305666051-DkKG?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android As it stands for Phase 2, everything from Hambleton...

Cambridge South new station construction progress.

Now this is where the devil really is in the detail! At some switching locations (but not all), you have the containerised buildings: FSs (Feeder Stations - almost always with Neutral Sections); TSCs (Track Sectioning Cabins/Cabinets); MPTSCs (Mid-Point TSCs - always with Neutral Sections)...

Northumberland Line to be re-opened to passengers

I believe the plan is still to open Ashington, Seaton Delaval & Newsham to passenger services first, with Northumberland Park, Blyth Bebside & Bedlington to follow at a later date.

Wigan-Bolton electrification. Construction updates only please

I do wonder when/if the point will be reached where it becomes more viable to simply rebuild rather than having a complex network of props. But also - how the hell do you keep the station open during such an extensive rebuild?

    Network Rail CP7 Plans

Summary for Eastern: Track - critical re-railing and removal of high-speed timber-sleepered S&C Signalling, LXs & Telecoms - ECDP, Cambridge Area Resignalling, early development of ETCS on MML. ETCS deployment on MML to follow in CP8. OLE - reducing dewirement risk in stations and targeted...

    ECML Power Supply Upgrade

Post-Easter update - not been officially announced on REAL's LinkedIn, but the new Tollerton TSC appears to be in service now. Passed it a few minutes ago and blue earths were up on the old green TSC; its connections to the 25kV shorn. IIRC the 'bare feeders' on the Down side were meant to be...

    MML Electrification: progress updates

That's what all the sources seem to suggest.

    MML Electrification: progress updates

Braybrooke's already gone live at the National Grid end, and the grid connection at Kegworth is all but confirmed.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I think so - an aerial survey on RouteView seemed to lend a suggestion to piles being driven in the embankment for OLE portals long before the platform mini-piles went in.

    MML Electrification: progress updates

My money is that the programme of works for OLE125 takes precedence over that for Wixams OLE Portal Installation. Besides, the precise design of portal placement may not affect the anchor locations.

    Electrification threads and resources index

To split the latter down; the Leeds-Neville Hill section to be done by Aug '28, with the Neville Hill - Church Fenton section done by Spring 2027 (at a guess)

    Electrification threads and resources index

Fantastic to see. Had a quick skim of that thread and it's a shame that links to the WCML & MML (the latter via the Dudding Hill Line) aren't included, but it's great that that route's finally getting wires at all! Hopefully that could be incentive to wire up more Western freight routes in the...

    Electrification threads and resources index

Poplars Electrification really grabbing my eye there! If I'm not mistaken, that's the link from the NLL to the GWML at Acton Main Line/Acton Yard.

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

Lovely to see tangible signs of progress at last on this. Looks like the 2no. concrete foundations are for SSAs (Simply Supported Anchors), also known as "wicketkeepers" in this parish; I can see another pair of SSAs in the background which leads me to believe that the 2no. STCs closest to the...
