    Aer Lingus & Emerald Airlines

That location allows for more rapid turnaround of the aircraft assuming landing on 28L and take off on 28R which is most of the time. Yes it does mean unfortunately mean a longer bus trip to and from T2 for passengers, but there are no suitable stands immediately around that terminal for the...

Why Does TfW Run This Train Without Passengers?

I really meant from a passenger perspective. There’s a GWR service leaving Cardiff at 09:42 to Swansea arriving at 10:35 offering an 8 minute connection into the 10:43 TfW service to Fishguard. It’s only 15 mins later into Carmarthen and has a much shorter connection at Swansea than the ECS...

Why Does TfW Run This Train Without Passengers?

Does it really make that great a difference? There is a GWR service not far behind it from Bristol Parkway that connects into the 10:43 to Fishguard which serves Carmarthen 15 mins later.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Probably far better to plan for five sets out each day out of eight, that leaves more than enough redundancy to deliver a reliable service, with one set a hot spare, and two on exam. The last thing TfW need to do is over-commit. A good comparison is Iarnród Éireann, who have eight CAF built...

Different Driver Depot, Route and Traction cards

To correct you on some of the above: Ballina drivers also work the freight trains from Ballina to Athlone. They do not work to Westport. Athlone drivers also drive the freight from Athlone to Ballina. Also, Rosslare is still a depot - the drivers based there don’t work any other route apart...

TfW 15x/17x withdrawals (17x now finished)

But Chester is going to be responsible for their maintenance, so I don’t really get your point.

TfW 15x/17x withdrawals (17x now finished)

Since the units that Machynlleth will be maintaining aren’t yet in service, what difference would that make?

To be fair on that and the following weekend the railway line is shut west of Llandudno Junction due to engineering works.

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

There were no issues about Narberth Tunnel and the IETs - it was a load of unsubstantiated rumours. It required no modification work.

How good could the London to Dublin connection be?

I think that you’re being wildly optimistic about people reducing flights out of Ireland. Dublin Airport, which has recently opened a new runway to cope with the demand, is now reporting record numbers of people flying each month, exceeding pre-pandemic numbers. As I’ve posted before, Aer...
