    Todmorden Curve

Finally did the Burnley > Todmorden > Manchester route yesterday. Granted it was a Monday afternoon at 3pm.... So the train was pretty quiet.... and 15 minutes late. ......BUT I have to say the service itself was superb. Right into Victoria in under an hour for £9 return.....Fantastic :) I...

    Todmorden Curve

Great to hear the service will finally up and running come May, good things come to those who wait :) Talking of Rose Grove, I passed through it yesterday morning on my way from Bamber Bridge to Nelson (on a pacer , "shudders" :( ) and noticed some work going on at the station. Looked like new...

    Todmorden Curve

If that's the case, it really is an absolute disgrace. Surely as Liverpool > Manchester becomes electrified the DMU's will immediately become available?!?! Or have I missed something ! :S

    Todmorden Curve

The whole thing is an absolute shambles thats for sure. I visited friends in Burnley over the weekend and thought I would have a trip to Manchester Road station to see how it was looking. To my complete amazement, it looks 100% finished and yet STILL closed?!?!

    What should stations be like?

Warwick Parkway is a good example of a perfect station for me. Always clean and tidy, staffed for 99% of the time, ample parking, nice shop and with a cracking service to both Birmingham and London.

    Burnley Manchester Road

One of my local stations :) As you said there have been more or less zero developments for a number of years, until the announcement of the Manchester Victoria direct service via the Todmorden curve, which is due to start in December. Which as others have said will have a huge impact on the...

    Todmorden Curve

Long as it opens in the end :) Ive waited 30 years for it, so im sure another 6 months wont do any harm.

    Favourite Station to Interchange at

I will also add London Marylebone to the list. A really well run station, never THAT overcrowded for London standards and provides a cracking service to Birmingham. Will be even better with the new Oxford link.

    Most Successful New Station

I live 500 yards from Warwick Parkway, and I have to say its superb. Lots of parking, for those that need it, Birmingham New Street in under half an hour, London Marylebone in 90 mins. All thats missing is connection to Rugby (currently changing at Leamington AND Coventry is a pain) and it...

Stations you don't want to go to/be at

I would agree with this, maybe with the exception of Rugby, which I think is pretty good.

Stations you don't want to go to/be at

London Euston for me too.... really is like something from the 1980's, nowhere near big enough and needs a full rebuild.... With HS2 im assuming? Manchester Victoria..... Absolutely dreadful in every way..... Again will be alot better after the refurb. I also find Coventry massively...

    Favourite Station to Interchange at

I will also add York to the list, some cracking watering holes :)

    Todmorden Curve

Well currently an off peak return from Todmorden > Manc Victoria is £8.20 , or £11.00 anytime. Surely it cant be much more than that ??? Maybe £12 or £18 ?? Well worth it for me personally with the estimated journey time of under an hour..... eventually.

    Coventry to Nuneaton stations go-ahead

Surely Coventry will be back at the Ricoh next season???? As others have said would be a massive bonus for the service.

    Todmorden Curve

I travelled over the line on Saturday from Burnley > York and what was surprising was a nice 3 carriage service, is this the norm?? Must be a year since I travelled the route. As others have said, the curve at Todmorden looked almost finished, great to see. Has anyone any idea of an estimated...

    Favourite Station to Interchange at

Birmingham New Street- Lots to do , will be great when its fully finished. London Kings X- Love the re-development. Birmingham Moor Street- Clean, Tidy, superb.

    Coventry to Nuneaton stations go-ahead

I once got the Cov > Nuneaton train......... NEVER again. Single carriage, half an hour late, dirty seats, joke of a service.

Re-openening Colne to Skipton, 'Financially Viable'

I think THE main reason for the re-opening of the curve is purely down to the journey time, which has already been talked about on the thread. 2 hours from Nelson to Manchester in this day and age is simply too long.

Re-openening Colne to Skipton, 'Financially Viable'

IF the project ever gets the go ahead I will be amazed. Considering how long it took them to re-open the Todmorden curve project, and that section of track was only 600 yards. Would be superb to get the train from Nelson or Colne to Skipton mind :)

My idea for Good Lines to potentially be reopened as preserved or main line

Would also like to see Leamington > Rugby opened. I live in Warwick and its a nightmare to keep changing at Leamington AND Coventry. Colne > Skipton would also be great :)
