Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

Real tin hat stuff there. You really think Labour would ban people questioning policies? Wow!

    Frustrated with RMT

Unless of course the Government start imposing T&Cs on the railways in a take it or leave scenario. Something they could do with rail workers as the dispute has been going on a long time. This could happen if there are seen to be a breaking of ranks amongst some members as per the original post….

    Frustrated with RMT

100% agree with this. The railway needs to move with the times. In some cases it’ll mean more jobs and in other less. It all needs sorting very soon otherwise we will see widespread cuts which will see all those that work in the industry poorer. There are parallels with the miners here and it...

    Frustrated with RMT

Oh there’s no doubt that the franchise have increased pay massively and whilst the increase in pay compared to BR was needed but whether to the extent it has is debatable! Planning is a nightmare between operators all fighting for their corner to save a few minutes here and there rather than...

    Frustrated with RMT

It isn’t fantasy but would take time to implement. Savings could be made from elsewhere by closing some ticket offices, introducing DOO, having more flexible working and reducing competing management structures (there needs an acceptance that the franchise / concession system has failed)

    Frustrated with RMT

The 35 hr does not need to go but Sundays inside needs to be part of contracts. That will need more staff to be employed (I think it’s about 17%) but savings to pay for this could come from elsewhere. I think this is where ticket office closures come from which I think are inevitable as more...

    Frustrated with RMT

I would hope they would leave the RMT? That said I do understand the pressures of finance especially at this time of year. Who are you loyal to? The union or your family?

    Frustrated with RMT

I think much of that unreliability can be tied to issues that has led to the dispute whether it be RDW ban by drivers or the companies not employing enough staff to cover the timetable or Sundays inside (for example). The whole structure of the railway needs sorting and maybe this watershed...

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

The solution to this is of course to employ enough drivers to reduce the need for RDW or at least the regular use of it.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

The agreement was pre-Covid and that expired Dec 21 I think?

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

£500 for a couple of hours work? Really? Meanwhile outside of the railway bubble you’d be told to s** off for expecting that. There’s certainly a sense of entitlement amongst some rail staff. Time and a half yes but expecting 10 hours regardless of hours worked is outrageous.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

I blame the management for making such a stupid offer in the first place and the unions for thinking that it could be offered again when the industry was in the financial brown stuff.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Which is outrageous and unsustainable. You can blame the management as much as the unions for agreeing to that in the first place.

    Northern cancellations getting worse

I’m more annoyed than surprised at the deterioration of the railway to giving up at the first opportunity to the extent that it’s now the norm. Cutting the service by stealth.

    Northern cancellations getting worse

Seems Northern have thrown in the towel for the 24th and 27th…..

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

You could turn that round and say 30.2% of those eligible to voted to accept…….

In-between strike days and intermediate days - why no service?

Not at all! But Northern are lying.

    Special Offers Discussion

I think you can state the outward but there’s no compulsion to travel on it.

RMT Extends Strike Action on Network Rail to Dec 24-27

So all people on benefits are scroungers are they? You’ve been reading too much Daily Mail….
