Trivia: More than one operator on town services

In Yeovil we have 3 regular operators on our town routes. First Buses of Somerset work the cross town 51 service whilst South West Coaches work the 11 on the western side of town and lastly Somerset County Council work the 68 which serves eastern side of town plus a link to Yeovil junction rail...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Webbers had some new 60 plate Optare Versa’s in Flyer livery as I recall with TTs to match.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

As their’s only a single 77A service each day which is largely covering the 77 route bar using Ilchester road in Yeovil and omitting sleepy Kingsdon it barely registers as a separate service being only a slight variation on the usual transit. The route I forgot and is more worth mentioning is...

Seems odd Mr Goff states several Yeovil services have passed to WOE operation as its just the 1 which is the 77. So not sure who to believe ? Sounds rather political which does not bode well.

First West of England (Bristol, Bath & The West)

Some would be useful on 77 Yeovil - Wells turns (3required) when WOE take over this route from Monday 27th November. Just a thought but these (59 plates) have been used on this route before. As Wells depot comes under Bath could be a possibility but only a thought so have to wait until next week...

Thanks for your reply. Presume you can still buy a ticket from the driver if enough space available onboard ?

    South West Falcon price query

Hi there, I’ve been looking up prices for the above service and noticed that on the Megabus ticket site most prices on this service whether single or return show a standard price irrespective of distance travelled (flat fare format) For instance travelling on the 1035 service from...

Quite agree with you. As a resident of Yeovil it has become a very unpleasant town to live in as King car dominates everything including a fair few pavements as well as the roads. We have become a little America in this area (Ugh)

Sorry if this message is in wrong place but could not find correct section. Today on the Weymouth park@ride service a East Lancs Olympus ex LT SEL 806 reg LK57 KBJ was being used when we caught it at 1220 into Kings Statue. The lady driver told us their had been problems earlier and this vehicle...

You obviously don’t live in the area then as the Yeovil to Sherborne corridor is very busy with 58/Y4 services. Agreed that it's quieter beyond Sherborne but if we get rid of all bus services in this country that don’t fit city criteria what would be left. First have a well earned reputation as...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

There was a period from roughly V plate vehicles through to 52/03 plates where seating on buses was very thin on First vehicles. Thankfully its improved since those days

I remember when Taunton had 60895/60910 to 60916 when they were used on numerous routes but mainly the 28. Myself and other bus friends thought it was sensible to carry a woopie cushion for comfort in our bags. As for 62193/194, sadism on ones buttocks of the highest order. Best to stand on...

Yesterday it was Streetlite 47412 on the 13 although that could change once the main holiday season begins. Mind you last couple of years it’s been Streetlite operated.

The three Streetlites would be from Hampshire, probably ex Southampton ones. They started out at Weymouth several years ago now.

Poor quality passenger rail service increases demand for private car purchases

You sum it up perfectly and incompetent for managers is spot on. Living in the West Country we often get an apology for a manager based in Bristol I assume who’s often making excuses on the local television news reports. Thank goodness for the workers of this country, if we relied on managers we...
